Remaking Star Trek: The Next Generation

Queen Mab

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
For a tiny series based around a large slow but powerful starcraft actually far out in space on an actual frontier with very small pockets of civilisation. Plots would revolve around supporting the colonies of people and challenges by Q. Drama would come from morals dilemmas of people to do the best things.

Jean-Luc Picard - Keanu Reeves

Geordi La Forge - Martin Freeman

Worf Rozhenko - Hugo Weaving

Adam Soong - Michael Fassbender

Q - Various

I notice, that you've replaced two black guys by two white guys? Is it deliberate or just luck of the draw?

OOOOH!!!!!!!!!

I GOT IT!!!

Delroy Lindo as Picard!!!!!!!!!!

Although I don't know if he can pull off the French accent. Maybe he's of French background but raised in America? Or the Caribbean? I know he can pull off accents, but I can't remember if he can pull off French...(or British).

That's OK, neither could Patrick Stewart.

Hugo Weaving as Picard is also not a bad choice.

Then how about:

Delroy Lindo as Picard
Hugo Weaving as Riker
Common as La Forge

Do what they do these days when they are making remakes.

Jean Luc Picard - Jason Sudeikis
William Riker - Justin Timberlake
Data - Fred Armisen
Worf - Kenan Thompson
Troi - Kristin Wiig
Geordi La Forge - Jay Phaoroh
Beverly Crusher - Leslie Jones
Wesley Crusher - Pete Davidson

This is basically what the premise was going to be, when they were spit-balling TNG in the beginning: that it would be striving out into unexplored territory on a 20+ year mission away from familiar planets and territories (hence the reason for the 'families aboard the ship' concept). Indeed, it's no coincidence that TNG "Encounter At Farpoint" takes place on the planet Deneb IV: on the Franz Joseph map of Star Trek space, the Deneb system was identified as being the fartherest chartered territory from the UFP. So the idea was very much "the Enterprise begins it's journey on the outskirts of the frontier and then continues to explore forward into unknown territories". This would of course require the conviction to create new alien races, and to not fall back on familiar concepts such as Klingons and Romulans.

That all got dropped pretty quickly in the subsequent episodes. I agree, it may have been an intriguing setup.

How about Gerard Depardieu as Jean Luc Picard? (that way the accent would be genuine!)
