true, I guess the marvel/DC timetables has made me look to trek similar way instead of movie by movie (which is what it should be really)I don't quite get why people keep bringing this up. The nuUniverse was not created so that they could bring back the TNG cast with different actors. And the current nuTOS cast is hardly "played out." We're not going to see nuTNG, ever.
I wouldn't go that far. Everything gets remade eventually. I wouldn't be surprised if somebody revamps TNG someday.
But, yeah, I'm not sure why everybody is in so much of a hurry to move on to the next reboot--or even worrying about the next next movie at this point.
I mean, seriously, STAR TREK 3 or XIII or whatever we're calling it hasn't even started filming yet and is still more than a year away. It's not even coming out this summer, but the next one. That's forever from now.
Why not hold off on speculating about ST 4 until 2017 at least?![]()
Trek is the Enterprise, NCC-1701, no bloody -A, -B, -C or -D. Trek is Kirk and Spock.
im thinking after Trek3/50th maybe the JJTOS era/cast will be played out (esp the cast) and the next movie could be a nuTNG film (in the JJverse of course) with Picard, Riker etc recast with lookalikes (maybe with Stewart, Frakes in cameos) like ST09 building up to the first mission of the JJ EntD (hopefully better then Farpoint - the Borg would be an obvious choice). Could even call it 'Star Trek The Next Generation' (colon or no) as that title hasn't been used for a movie yet (like the way ST09 used 'Star Trek')
After all a lot of fans who grew up only knowing TNG (when TNG was the dominant Trek brand in the 90s) will be wondering where 'their' crew is in the movies? (that is if ST3 dosnt include some TNG in a Days of Future Past way which is possible)

A spin-off reboot?
No. Please, no.

What's the option when this cast leaves? A reboot of a reboot?

Or they could just recast the actors as they go along. There's no rule that says you have to jump-start the continuity every time you switch out a cast member. Hollywood used to recast parts in continuing series all the time.

While cutting the budget with each successive film.
No one who went to see the last to movies cares about what happened way back in 1973.

You don't literally mean "no one", right? Because I, for one, care about what happened in the original movies.
I think you've reached your quota for hair-splitting today. It was Garth, not Gaith.![]()
