And 95% of the time, their foreign accents aren't picked out by the native speaker characters.In many movies and TV shows Americans know a foreign language. Often fluently. And more than one.
In Mission: Impossible (the series), the native "language" of any foreign country is English with a foreign accent.
The X-Files was one of the biggest offenders for this.^That flashlight thing has always annoyed me. There's no reason for them to not turn on the lights 95% of the time, yet they still go around with flashlights.
