The new bases look much better, and the chairs are fantastic! Any chance you can put a link to where you found the chair? I went looking for it yesterday in my free time, and had no luck.

I never did find it. I just ended up making it from scratch.

I think it has a very nice late 70's / early 80's sci-fi feel to it. What do you guys think?

I could easily picture Doctor McCoy telling Ellen Ripley that she's pregnant in not in a good way in that space.

Looks great, Donny! The design you chose is meshing pretty well.

Of course, now that you've finished the chairs, be prepared to suddenly find the perfect reference that eluded you before.

Okay! I managed to get a good bit done today; enough to call McCoy's office "done" for now. I cobbled together some desk props (don't ask me what some of those things are...I just made them based on the basic shapes available in the one screencap!) and I changed the lighting to give it a more darkened TWOK feel.

I may come back and add some additional set dressing later, as I feel some light signage placed about and a nice potted plant would look good in one of the foyer corners. We never see the foyer in TWOK, so who knows what could've made its way there in the time after TMP.

And, obviously, I still have to add the service corridor beyond the office's outer windows. I will do this once I get the rest of the sickbay complex rooms in place.









Next up: the Examination / Surgery Room!

Great work there, the chairs have a lovely 70s asthetic to them.

I just noticed that the "McCoy" name on the glass is projected onto the office wall. It adds a nice touch of casual realism.

Love the seats though the new pedestals imply an odd pivot point.

(and I too spent about an hour looking with no luck, though I am now familiar with chair styles like Rebecca, Risom and Dutch lounge .)

They're the same type of pedestals the bridge chairs sit on.

The pivots are centered to the bottom of the chair, but I have each chair rotated from forward position just a bit, which is giving the illusion of off-centeredness.

[EDIT] Actually, you're right. There is a problem in the chairs. While the stands are mounted correctly, I have the actual pivot point of the chair cushion in the wrong location. I will fix. Thanks for pointing this out!

I asked Mr. Sternbach and he doesn't recognize that particular graphic symbol from his TMP days. He didn't work on TWOK.

Does look like it was used to store objects inside them, though. Could throw in some doodads, medical instruments etc.

Looks to me like they were originally white plastic (a Phase II holdover, most likely) and someone just upholstered them for TWOK.
