Hello
There is always G rated episodes in a row, has anyone seen that?
I have all of TNG, DS9, VOY and Ent on VHS, and all of TNG & DS9 on DVD. In the context of the DVDs, all of the episodes within a series conform to one "umbrella" age rating.
However the VHS versions, which are at least a decade older, give one rating to two episodes per VHS.
I am not going through them all as there are literally hundreds and I would spend all day writing this post. Consequently I shall use DS9 Season One to demonstrate.
(UK = U [Universal] > PG [Parental Guidance] > 12 > 15 > 18)
Volume 1 - Emissary - PG
Volume 2 - Past Prologue & Man Alone - PG
Volume 3 - Babel & Captive Pursuit - U
Volume 4 - Q-less & Dax - U
Volume 5 - The Passenger & Move Along Home - PG
Volume 6 - The Nagus & Vortex - U
Volume 7 - Battle lines & The Storyteller - PG
Volume 8 - Progress & If Wishes Were Horses - PG
Volume 9 - The Forsaken & Dramatis Personae - PG
Volume 10 - Duet & In The Hands of the Prophets - PG
Henceforth, with the exception of the latter volumes, the episodes do not appear to conform to any pattern or system.
On the subject of Enterprise, VHS 1.5, 1.6 & 1.7 have a rating of U, whilst the rest of season one have a PG rating. Thus 1.9 (Fusion & Rogue Planet) received a PG.
With regard to TNG "The Child", VHS Volume 14 received an age rating of PG.
On the subject of the movies, while The Motion Picture is the only one rated U, First Contact is the only one rated 12 with the following breakdown of criteria on the back:
> Language - Infrequent, Mild
> Sex/ Nudity - None
> Violence - Some, Moderate,
Fantastic.
The last descriptor was not wrong, but I do not see how it relates to age censorship!
