Well there's that. It just sounds like she got too big for herself and demanding more money on the two biggest shows that she was on when she was never close to the best talent on either of them. (I never saw Becker because it never interested me, but Danson is a very good actor).

Greed effectively ended her career.

Indeed, he was the backbone of Cheers for eleven years.

I mean they replaced Charlie Sheen and Two And A Half men continued for three years and more but I seriously doubt that they could have done the same with Ted Danson and Cheers and survive even one season.

^Cheers still had very good ratings and Danson decided he was done with Sam Malone. It was a good decision to go out before things got stale. He's gone on to have a very nice career after, he's good on CSI now.

While money was involved, I believe that pride was at issue. I find it funny that no one from among her castmates stood up to defend her. I would be surprised if Dorn never said anything critical about her firing, but it seems she has few friends among castmates.

Was it actually her decision to demand more, or did she get bad advice from her agent? This is beginning to remind me of Suzanne Somers and Three's Company, and how she made outrageous demands and got fired as a result.

I would be really surprised if Farrell was not represented by one of the major talent agencies. And if she started a revolt on the set of Becker, as has been reported, I would think the agency would not have been involved. They represent many actors, and need to have producers answer their calls.

And I am guessing rehired one year later. Yet, it seemed like Diane Muldaur was only there temporarily. I wonder how they would have worked that out if they had wanted the latter to stay and not rehire Gates.

I think the 'doctor' role on TNG was fairly inconsequential, I doubt a decision either way would have affected tangible ratings or intangible discussion in places like here. Like, "*shrug*, oh well, guess we got Pulaski." Kinda like Argyle. Poor Argyle.
