The Flash - Season 1

Some fun news I learned on Facebook

John Wesley Shipp posted this

Off to Vancouver to shoot new Trickster episode. Wait...how weird is that?!
smile emoticon

Than a fan posted that he hoped Vito D'Ambroio appear on the show too. He played Officer Bellows on the 1990 series. Well surprise, surprise Vito himself replied -
Hey John, see you on Friday! Unreal, in a great way.....
Yes Steve, it happened!

AWESOME! No word on who plays yet.

I'm still holding out for Desert. I loved Julio back in the day.

He popped up on Grey's last spring and I think it was the first time I saw him in 20 years.

Yeah. I watched The Heights.

Alex Desert was on Becker for all its seasons, for those few of us who watched it (for Terry Farrell, in my case). He played the blind newspaper salesman stereotype.

Desert also has a fair voiceover career going, having been one of the go-to voices of Nick Fury. In any case, I'm sure that TPTB would eventually tap him to appear in some form for the show. And after that, Tim Thomerson!

I don't know about "go-to"; he only played the role in one episode of Wolverine and the X-Men and on a recurring basis in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (both of which were in the same universe). So he was the Nick Fury of that particular continuity only. And other Marvel animated shows on during the same period had different actors in the role: Kevin Michael Richardson on The Super Hero Squad Show and Dean Redman on Iron Man: Armored Adventures.

Also, an interesting tidbit: In 1992, right after The Flash ended, Désert was in a short-lived FOX series called The Heights, playing a character named... Stan Lee.

Man, I feel like the writers are just spoiling me now! Awesome Captain Cold and Heatwave action, Jason Rusch makes an appearance, and Golden Glider at the end to top it all off. Then next week there's Pied Piper. This show is a comic fan's dream.

Never heard of Golden Glider. Is that "Sis?"

We also got what will probably be the show's only nod to the Flash villain the Turtle (or Turtle Man), in the form of Iris's stuffed animal.

It just occurred to me that we've never actually seen Barry's apartment, at least not that I recall. That's weird, to go through more than half a season without ever showing the main character at home.

The justification for the Firestorm name was pretty contrived. Although it's not as stupid as the "absolute zero/absolute hot" technobabble.

I liked this episode as well. I got a kick out of seeing the two Prison Break stars together.

Really enjoyed this one. I liked the stuff the aftermath of the mid-season finale, both personal and superhero. Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller were great as Capt. Cold and Heat Wave. I didn't expect to see Golden Glider introduced so soon, although the fact that we didn't see her face makes me think they ust not have cast Peyton Reed yet at the time they filmed this. I wonder if her and Robbie Amell (Firestorm) will have any scenes together. For those unaware they were two of the main characters on The Tomorrow People, and spent a lot of their screen time together. Not only that but apparently Robbie Amell also just did a TV movie with Victor Garber, so they were already friendly before being cast as the two halves of Firestorm. It cracks me up how many of the actors on this costarred with each other on other shows.

What happens if Barry throws a handful of gravel at half the speed of sound towards Mick and Snart?

Swiss cheese people?

Swiss cheese people.

It's just madness that no one tried to shoot those two dipshits while they were standing out in the open?

They are not bullet proof.

What if they filled the combat area with teargas?

The cold gun would entomb these bad boys and yahoo answers assures me that tear gas is flammable.

Seriously, just punch the ####ers in the face.

If I was that Police Captain, I'd think about middlemanning towards mass producing those cold guns, arming the police and a few armies... Especially if the Metahuman threat is real and growing.

But instead of making the world a more dangerous place, he put the Genie back in the bottle.

What an idiot.

Oh, did you notice the idiot's boyfriend this week?

^Indeed. Lisa Snart, Leonard's younger sister. She's also a long time Rogue. She's probably even crazier than him.

Going only by the show's version, Leonard doesn't seem to be the crazy one at all. He seems to be the rational, calculating one, with Rory as the psychopathic hothead (playing into the cool/hot stereotypes).

You mean Peyton List. Peyton Reed is the guy who replaced Edgar Wright as the director of Ant-Man.

Maybe I misunderstood but when they were talking about Reverse Flash Caitlin dismissed the notion he was "evil"?

Was Wells actually going to get out of his chair and go save Barry from the drone? This show sure hits us with a lot and aside from this weeks technobabble, F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. really, was terrific. Piper next week, does that just leave Mirror Master from the main group of rogues left to be announced in some way?

This episode was just great. I loved seeing Captain Cold and Heatwave together. The Barry/Iris stuff was as boring as always, but with a show this awesome having only one boring subplot is very forgivable. Next week's episode introduces another rogue, and I really, really hope we get to see all the Rogue's team up together eventually.

The fight was really fun. But for a guy who can GRAB AND REDIRECT A MISSILE IN MIDAIR, he showed a remarkable lack of ingenuity in not dealing with the villains by simply disarming them before they could pull a trigger. And yeah, why didn't the police simply snipe the two guys? They knew they were armed and dangerous but had their exact location hours in advance.

Cap'n Cold was remarkably less thug-like this time around, being the clear mastermind of the two; though Heat Wave was no slouch either, showing some smarts in repairing his heat gun right away. When we see them return I hope it'll be at least as tough to defeat them.

Also, Ghostbusters references are ALWAYS good. Best one since 30 Rock, I think. :)

Well, they did have a hostage. The police would ideally have wanted to take them alive and get them to reveal where Caitlin was.
