Indeed the recent Marvel events really have been lackluster. Seems like AoA is just going to be another one in the vein of these and Original Sin and Axis.

Avengers #40 is really sticking to me. I've leafed through it three times now. That's one of the better death scenes in comics (I just hope it sticks for a long time so it doesn't undercut that moment). I'm sure it won't though. It's not like
Thanos is going to be dead for long. I'm sure he'll be in GOTG2 and he's definitely be in Avengers 3... and if Thanos survived, then Namor survived.

Remember what happened is the pay off to "Avengers Vs X-Men". T'Challa finally made due his promise to him in 40.

"Secret Wars" isn't going to disappoint IMO because Hickman is on it...as to what they do with all the teasers though (considering they're part of Battleworld) that is another question entirely. I think the main book will be something special personally, and yes there's bias on my part since I'm such a huge Hickman fan.

    I'm spoiler free.

Have I walked though a timewarp and it's 1984 again?

Wasn't there a Battleworld thing going on about 5 years ago?

Gravity was the big winner in that do-over.

30th Anniversary of "Secret Wars" so yeah it's 1984 again just with a Hickman spin on things :)

What did you think of Infinity? I didn't dislike it but I had some big problems with it, namely how it was split between two different separate stories under serving both.

That is clearly more editorial's fault for needing him to set up the stuff in Inhumanity/Inhumans.

I wonder how long ago the original Secret Wars was in Marvel-Time?

The origin of Venom for frakks sake.

Peter was 16 when he was bit by his spider on a school trip, and he's 30 something now.

Meh, to me the X-Men have been dead since Decimation. WHich is bad because that was actually right after I started reading comics. Thank good for those black and white omnibus editions...

Tried to get into "All new X-Men" but no luck there either. I hate how Bendis writes Jean, then the future X-Men show up...then the Ultimate X-Men. really where is that gonna end?

And then the romance between Jean and Quentin. Really? Bad enough they brought Quentin back, ut now pairing him with Jean? No....no......

Where is the hell is this UNNATURAL romance between Jean and Quentin taking place?

Yeah, I remember a sequence where Quentin thought, "I'm gonna score with Jean Grey", and Jean called him out on it, but obviously that's as far as that went. The only actual conection between Jean and Quentin would be through the Phoenix.

I liked "Infinity" but then I've been reading both "Avengers" and "New Avengers" since they started so it was nice to see the payoff happen with the Inhuman arc. It's gonna be interesting to see how the grand finale leads into "Secret Wars".

    Quentin has a girlfriend!

I remember Jean saying to Onslaught 2 decades back "When a man says "hello" to me, what he usually means is "will you walk across my bare chest in 6 inch heels" so I've learnt how to block that stuff out and get on with my day."

There has been a lack of fun in the X-Men line since "Schism". Obviously some fans would say prior to Schism. That was why I for one loved "Wolverine and the X-Men" as Jason Aaron still had that sense of fun and whackiness in his run.

PAD's "All New X-Factor" has also captured a lot of the fun of the X-Men but sadly that is ending I believe next week.

PAD will bring it back in a couple years after a shuffle upstairs.

X-Factor is the Mu.. No, Cloak and Dagger is the Mummy of Marvel Comics.

i agree that X-Men comics haven't been that great since Schism. maybe the upcoming Black Vortex will be fun. but i doubt it. its mostly Bendis driven.

So am I missing something here? Does Santa Clause exist in the Marvel universe? I just read the recent Captain Marvel and he shows up, and I thought at first they'd explain him away as an alien or a Mutant or something. But nope, no explanation as to who he is.

It just kind of came out of left field for me.

Well, Santa was replaced by Ultron in one Holiday special...

He also got a hold of the Infinity Gauntlet in another.

I'm pretty much over Hickman. Too sprawling and in it's own world.
