Do you think they'll keep making Abramsverse movies after #3?

It also occurs to me that the PLANET OF THE APES franchise has been rebooted at least twice in my lifetime (not counting the live-action TV show and Saturday morning cartoon). Doesn't seem to have chased away audiences or alienated us long-time fans.

Audiences are more flexible than we often give them credit for, and less obsessed with "canon" and "continuity" than the internet would have us believe! :)

She's still M, she's still the "same" M (Mrs. Barbara Mawdsley?)

That's the name from the first GoldenEye script, yeah. But the final scene of Skyfall (when Bond receives some of M's possessions after her death) has a prop with the name 'Olivia Mansfield'. Don't know if it's actually legible, though.

Barbara Mawdsley is also the name of the female M in the Raymond Benson novels.

I didn't know anything about the Olivia Mansfield reference until now. Interesting. I wonder if it was a legit decision by the producers, or if it was just a random name thrown on the prop?

Besides, how does M having the same name prove they're in the same universe?

Isn't Llewelyn and Whishaw's name both Geoff Boothroyd?

Exactly. Similarly, how many people have played Bond? Felix Leiter? Moneypenny? Blofeld?

At least with Blofeld I could almost buy that he'd just changed his appearance in each film, but even then -- Telly Savalas isn't exactly all that far an appearance from Donald Pleasance, whose look has come to be the definitive Blofeld (via a vis For Your Eyes Only).

Is Jeffrey Wright's Felix supposed to be the same as Cec Linder's or David Hedison's?

Is Caroline Bloss supposed to be the same Moneypenny as Lois Maxwell, even though they both worked for Robert Brown's M and alongside Desmond Llewelyn's Q?

there's so much overlapping of characters (M, Q) and the car in question, that it puts into question wether or not Casino Royale is a reboot at all.

No, actually, it doesn't. Like I said, every new Bond is a reboot, but can still carry over certain elements from one Bond actor to the next. That doesn't change the fact that they're still reboots.

Conversely, Casino Royale is no MORE of a reboot - and, of course, no less of one - than any other new Bond. It's just a bit more blatant about the rebootyness.

Isn't Llewelyn and Whishaw's name both Geoff Boothroyd?

I'm not aware of Ben Whishaw's Q ever being referred to by his real name. As far as I know, he's only ever called "Q".

In regards to the OP's original question, yes - I hope there's more Abramsverse movies after 3.

I love the Abramsverse, and would like to see it long continue.

:)

Well, it's not like the nacelles are an option, the warp coils have to be inactive for any of this to work, otherwise the ODN relays will overload and we'll burn out the replicators making new light bulbs.

Wait, I have an idea: what if we rotate the nacelles?

That would make the warp field jinky, cause a 47% flux that would ultimately result in all the coffee going cold. And coffee can't be found in just any nebula.
