Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

In the earlier drafts Vader was more sort of a henchvillain ; and this sort of survives in the final film, with the Imperials mocking or commanding Vader. Vader seems to be given a more central role in ESB and ROTJ as Lucas and Kasdan realized how iconic he'd become.

The TPM teaser poster is indeed iconic; the AOTC poster kind of looked like something one could do in photoshop, and the ROTS teaser, while better, is merely repeating TPM's poster.

Then again the teasers for ESB and ROTJ (Which was "revenge" on many of the posters) just pretty much had Vader's helmet as the center, or Luke's lightsaber.

Not according to Lucas.
Lucas os wrong, the lroginal trilogy is obviously not Anakin's story, it's about Luke, he's the protagonist, it's about his adventures, his growth as a hero and eventually Jedi.

Lucas has said a lot of dumb things in the past and now that he sold the franchise it can finally be treated as irrelevant, he doesn't own Star Wars, he's not in charge and doesn't get to decide anything, thank god!

I was just referencing what was officially said by Lucas when I made my comment. I would also agree that Lucas' comments in this regard were made in retrospect. If you ask me, The original trilogy is, indeed, Luke's story through and through.

Side-note: The revenge of the Sith teaser poster is the worst movie poster I have ever seen. Or it's close. It looks like Dark Helmet is under that cape.

Oh, that was the Episode III teaser poster. I'd forgotten. Interesting concept. Bad execution. Never a fan of it. The theatrical and TV trailers for ROTS, however, were some of the best in the franchise's history.

I've since come to feel that the prequels were the story of Palpatine, and how he manipulated people and events to come to power.

Palpatine/Sidious was clearly the puppetmaster and the true villain of the Saga, much moreso than Vader who was more of a tragic victim of his own weaknesses and failings than the real evil behind the events of the film franchise. To that extent I think I agree. The story of the Skywalker family and of Palpatine and how they both changed the fate of their galaxy in their own ways.

Agreed. As much as Lucas wants us to see it that way, the suggestion that the only real purpose of Luke in the OT is to redeem his father just doesn't ring true to me at all. Especially considering how Vader is little more than a glorified henchman in ANH who doesn't show even a trace of the conflict or complexity he has in the other movies.

And I also don't really see how it can be "Anakin's story" if it's Luke and his friends who do most of the actual work to bring down the Empire and overthrow the Emperor throughout the OT.

The fact Vader finally has a twinge of conscience at the very end when he sees his son being electrocuted doesn't really change that or do enough to suddenly make it "his story." And even that only happened after the effort made by Luke to appeal to his humanity.

a Fan painted Star Wars: The Force Awakens poster. I have some minor issue with a few of the characters but overall, really well done.

That is a pretty gorgeous fan poster and one of my favorite pieces of fan art based on the early rumors and images.

In the end it was Anakin who killed Palpatine and aparently after some 30 years of war the Empire is still around and still fighting. It would appear as though Anakin did his job and Luke and others failed.
