Bears have fired Emery and Trestman.

Add Mike Smith to the list as well. We now have Harbaugh, Ryan, Smith and Trestman. You think there will be anymore?

There's also the vacancy in Oakland.

There's always one out-of-nowhere move on Black Monday so I'm going to throw at a dartboard and say Coughlin in New York or Philbin in Miami.

Yeah, I was thinking of those as well. I'd say Philbin maybe but I doubt Coughlin goes unless he has just had enough.

Mara was very non-committal about Coughlin's job security yesterday and I imagine Perry Fewell's seat is heating up a bit ... if Coughlin goes to the mattresses for Fewell I can see that being the straw that causes him to get canned (since he had his offensive coordinator fired out from under him last year). Per the Dolphins' owner's most recent statement Philbin is safe, but we know how much that means.

I guess Buffalo or Tennessee might make changes.

Ross stated publicly after the win over the Vikings in week 16 that 'he was happy with the progress being made, and Philbin was going to remain the coach of the Dolphins in 2015'

Injuries decimated the Phins this year, which gave a nice cover for the fact that the defense fell apart, the Phins are saddled with some terrible contracts, which also serve as a cover that we need a new Defensive Coordinator.

No mention whether Tucker or anyone else was sent packing by the Bears. Just Emery, Trestman & Kromer (at least in the espn.com story).

They seriously need to clean house & fire everybody, maybe Philips too. Then maybe sell the team to some owners born in the 20th century.

We'll my Steelers got it done in a though divisional game last night.

I'll actually tip my hat to the Bungles... they are banged up and despite their quarterback, they competed.

Bell hyperextends his knee.... (an OMG moment for this Steelers fan....)

Our patchwork secondary keep finding a way to get-er-dun... great strip last night...

Predictions?

The Steelers win if Bell can play, the Ravens win if he can't.

I witnessed something last night I thought I'd never see.

4th and 9 from around mid-field and the Steelers demonstrate they have no faith in their defense. The try a trick punt play (that was ugly as all get out) and give the Bungles the ball spitting distance from a game tying field goal.... (slaps head) Wow... Tomlin has botched a bunch of things throughout the years, but this one takes the cake. Has the Steeler defense been hard to watch this year? Hell yeah, but to hand a tie to a team instead of making them go 50 or 60 to earn it .... in Pittsburgh ... was something I thought I'd never see.

It appears that Tom Coughlin has dodged the axe again in New York. He would have become the eighth head coach in NFL history to be fired by the team they had previously won the Super Bowl with.

I'm sure the entire coaching staff was dismissed. Emery hired Tucker and DeCamillis, there's no way the team would keep them.

^ Whatcha think of Rex as DC? His Dad was a good one.

Rex has said he's not interested in returning to a coordinator role and that he'll go be a TV analyst if he doesn't get interest for a head coaching role.

That being said, I will be very disappointed if the Bears don't bring him in for an interview. He got a raw deal with some really awful Jets rosters.

The 49ers want to interview Josh McDaniels.

I cannot stop laughing.

Well, he had arguably the best AFC roster when he got there. Didn't they play in 2 AFC championship games?

But that said, why would anyone want to coach the Jets with that ownership?

The state of the Bears' defense (shocking honestly) alone should warrant a look at Rex.

They did ... and then Idzik proceeded to do some of the worst drafting and free-agency moves in recorded history.

Just my opinion, but I think Rex would be a great fit for the Bears.

If I were a 49ers fan, that presser yesterday with Jed or Jeb or whatever and his yes man would give me serious pause. I don't think those guys have a clue. And I don't think a lot of them do, but that was really awkward. Look at the Falcons. When a team goes "far and wide" looking for coaches every few years, they don't know what they want, and it really shows on field.

Otoh is the Steelers. They won't go into any prolonged decline until someone runs it who doesn't know football.

^I know you meant this as a sarcastic statement, but it is precisely this sort of reasoning that drives so many owners and GMs to force out coaches (and players) they don't like. The way I see it, it shouldn't matter if everyone gets along as long as the on-field product is successful each year.

More and more, we're hearing of coaches being fired for "personality conflicts" or "philosophical differences." Do these differences mean that one person wants to win, and the other doesn't? I don't it.

I cannot see how the 49ers brass could justify letting Harbaugh go...

Because Jed York is an arrogant, petulant manchild who can't stand people who disagree with him.

It must be so awful to have a winning coach who you just can't get a long with...

He became president of the 49ers when he was 28 years old solely because his dad owned the team. He isn't exactly accustomed to people telling him "no."

The only real other example of this I can think of is the Golden State Warriors. Aside from that, I don't recall many successful coaches fired because of personality issues. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I just can't recall any.
