Problem with my printer, it prints trash

Lately, on every print job using my Canon MP210 printer and my HP Pavilion PC I am getting 2 to 3 pages of "code" included at the beginning. I reloaded the driver, which didn't help. I contacted Canon service, they weren't any help.

Since the printer is several years old, I bought a new one thinking my problem was over. Nope. It still does it. The problem is somewhere in the PC. Its easy enough to just select the actual pages I want to print, but it gets old after a while. I ran the troubleshooters, still nothing. Any ideas?
Thanks, Ken.

The only time I had a problem like that, I was printing PDFs. If I closed the doc before the printing began, it'd spit out garbage. So I leave all docs open until the jobs are done.

Would printing emails act the same as PDFs? I get the same thing when printing them. It started about 6 months ago, so something has changed. Printing in Microsoft Word is not a problem.

Festivus, you found my video. That's been the best solution to many problems I've had over the years.

Are you printing from Outlook or another email client? If so, update your printer drivers. I realize you just purchased a new printer, but the drivers may not be up to date. If that doesn't do it, check your printer properties for advanced features, and make sure that options like "use only system fonts" aren't checked. That could be at the root of your problem.

Have you tried going into Printer Properties and just printing a Test Print?

If that does the same thing - check the cable it's using (assuming it's not wireless). Also, do you have any anti-virus software installed?

OS version and such would be useful to know...

^ Santa Claus: Don't use Outlook, just xfinity email. My advanced features don't have "use only system fonts".

^ Star Cruiser: Test print OK. Got new USB cable, tried both ports. How might anti-virus affect printing?

^Auntie Hill: Drivers are latest. HP support says its a Canon issue (funny, a canon issue on Trek BBS)

Until the issue is resolved, I just have to remember to do a "print Preview" first and select the pages with the good stuff.

I only asked about anti-virus software as you might have an odd virus (there have been some that will mess with video and printing in the past).

If a test print works fine - it's not the hardware or the drivers. It's a software problem pure and simple. It may be related to the browser you use - possible corruption of a file or possibly a Java runtime issue.

What browser are you using with xfinity?

My browser is IE 11, I run Norton virus quick scans daily, and full scans 2x a month. I'll look into the other possible causes you mentioned. Thanks.

It was Java. I added the printable-Sudoku-puzzles website to Java's security exception list (not recommended, since its not an https site). I did a print preview and the crap wasn't there, only the puzzle. Now to find out what Java is going to do about their problem.

Thanks Star Cruiser!!!

Sun probably won't do anything soon. Just check that you have the latest version of Java runtime.

Eliminate the impossible, whatever remains - however improbable - must be the truth (paraphrased from Sherlock Holmes).

Are you kidding me?? THATS likely your problem.

Can you contribute something helpful?

Indeed, stop using IE right now.. Never EVER open it again. download anything else dear friend ANYTHING else. Also, i'd rather see you use Free AVG then Norton.
