But first choice has to go to KMFB with Acts of Contrition. In addition to effortlessly balancing a ridiculous number of thematically connected stories, it contained her strongest moral stand yet; it made me sick to my stomach with sympathy and anger, and made me question my own blind spots about my culture. Just a phenomenal work.

I've gone back and forth, but ultimately I have to agree with this post. Acts of Contrition was, quite simply, outstanding. I was truly moved by Kirsten's writing in this novel.

And also, yes, a shout-out has to go to The Klingon Art of War by KRAD. Definitely one of the highlights of year for me!

I only read 24th century stuff now, and this was kind of a 'blah' year for me, but I really enjoyed Acts of Contrition.

Whereas I'm pleasantly surprised to see Tower of Babel in second place. I really struggled with that one, and I didn't think it had turned out all that well. I'm relieved that the readers don't seem to agree.

For me, this may have been the best year in TrekLit yet. There were so many gems that I'll reread time and again in the future. My top-favorite would be Tower of Babel. The perfect cocktail of science, character development and exploration for me this year.

So, how do you feel about Uncertain Logic then? I loved Tower of Babel, so if you are actually feeling better about UL, then my expectations just skyrocketed ;)

It was a bit weak by your usual standards, in my opinion, but your best efforts are among the finest Trek books, so below-average for you is still very enjoyable. Tower of Babel was perfectly good quality. Apparently plenty of readers agree!

I definitely tried to up my game with Uncertain Logic, and I'm satisfied with the result. I felt that I didn't really challenge or evolve the characters enough (Trip aside) in ToB, so I definitely wanted to make up for that in UL.

Wait... Is Uncertian Logic out?

edit never mind.. though for some reason I was thinking Jan not April.

^The cover isn't even out yet. Although they just released the cover to the previous month's book, so I guess mine will be out in about a month.
