I can't find a reference to it anyplace, and I consider myself a long time Star Trek (original series fan).

First Reference (Cloud Minders) @ 1:48 in the video. Those short few notes as Kirk and Spock are gazing at Stratos.

Second Reference (That which survives) @ 47:55 in the video Same notes as Losira is speaking.

It may exist in other eposides, but I don't know. I would love it if someone has either the sheet music, a MIDI file, an mp3, or at least the name of the piece.

thanks.

I just finished hearing that on the soundtrack, but Indy Solo should know.

I believe it's from "Who Mourns For Adonis", but I'll get back to you on the title.

I'm currently listening to the TOS soundtrack that I bought from La La Land Records and it's AMAZING!

It's "Apollo Motif" from Fred Steiner's "Who Mourns for Adonais" score. It's the third track on Disc 3 of the Season Two set.

And I'm glad this came up, because it got me looking through my uploaded music files, and I only had a few tracks listed under that disc's heading, and I wasn't sure whether the rest were missing or just misfiled. And now I've confirmed that they're just under a different heading for some reason. I need to either figure out how to edit the index or just create episode playlists.

Thats it i think. Now I have to figure out a way to get the first few notes or a least a bar without spending $250.

Do you know of a site that sells these as mp3s for $1 each or so? I didn't see it on itunes.

thanks.

It's definitely an investment.

But, man, it's terrific.

As a diehard TOS fan who has been a fan since kindergarten (maybe even earlier) and will likely be a diehard until the day he dies, this was a no-brainer.

My parents got it for me for my birthday.

cool. someplace around probably gone now, I had the original sound track on vinyl I bought about 1979 or so.

I hunted around and I couldn't find a legit source for the music. However I did watch the Apollo episode and your right its all over that episode. thanks again.

I always think of it as an historical and something which once was bit of music due to the amount of times it appears during the series especially when the crew are facing a threat or looking at remnants of the past civilizations!

Yes, it sets a feeling of time, almost of distance time.

The only album of ST music that existed in '79 was the Star Trek: The Motion Picture soundtrack album. The first LPs of TOS music weren't published until 1985. And Steiner's "Who Mourns for Adonais" score was never released until 2012.

I swear I bought something with star trek on it back in the late 1970s. It may have been like TV Themes or something, but I remember it having TOS theme on it. its been 38 years, I'm getting old..

Maybe it was an unofficial release? Or one of those "Joe Schmoe Bands" doing their takes on the music?

I know the Star Wars and James Bond series have had their share of soundtrack releases, but by other artists.

Another ringing endorsement for the La La Land set. It cost a lot of money, but it's magnificent.

I have made some progress. From what I hear (from the Who mourns for Adonis clip) it sounds like a Clarinet is the instrument.

Again, I only need the first few notes or so. My old ears aren't good enough to know what is been played in the Cloud Minders and That which survives because they are talking over it. I'll have to give it another listen. Thanks a lot for all the help. I really appreciate it.

Also found a book "The Music of Star Trek" by Jeff Bond. It has the Apollo Motif in it in some form. I'll have to look into that. it maybe all I need.

thanks again.

There was a guy named Neil Norman from around then who released "covers" of some of the original series music. I owned a copy of it a long time ago; it's boxed up somewhere because I don't have a turntable any longer.
