James Bond franchise--the return of SPECTRE and Blofeld?

taking stories whose titles were used but whose plots were either left completely unused or only partly adapted. Moonraker is the only one I can think of off the top of my head

There really isn't much left, most of Moonraker ended up in Die Another Day.

I guess Live and Let Die or Diamonds Are Forever have potential for adaptation but you'd still need to flesh them out a bit.

That was Licence to Kill, but yes you're right that bit is in Live and Let Die.

They've pretty much plundered most of the back catalogue now. Even Bond in New York, which they kinda used in the epilogue of Quantum of Solace. I think there's only Risico and Property of a Lady left as titles, and obviously they've done Property of a Lady in Octopussy.

I'm totally stoked!!!

FINALLY, Spectre is back.

I've been a fan for years. I've read most of Ian Fleming's books, (and John Gardner's).

I *love* this franchise.

I've enjoyed ALL the Bond films (in varying degrees of course), but I don't think there's been a flat out bad Bond film.

I've also enjoyed ALL the Bond actors in the role.

My grandfather introduced me to Goldfinger, which was the first Bond film I saw in its entirety. (I tried watching The Living Daylights about a year and a half earlier than this, but I thought it was a boring even though I remember liking the actor and the beginning of the film.) Connery will always be my favorite, but man...Daniel Craig is amazing. He's right up there.

I've also enjoyed Roger Moore performances tremendously. Love Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only, two of my top 10 Bond films.

I think Pierce Brosnan has gotten a bad rep, especially since Craig took over and gave everyone Fleming's Bond. But everyone forgets that there was a time when Brosnan was everyone's choice for Bond. Unfortunately, his Bond films weren't the strongest and I don't think he ever truly got a great Bond script (I enjoyed Tomorrow Never Dies, which I know is not a popular choice.)

I also enjoyed Timothy Dalton in the role. When I became a hardcore Bond fan after that Goldfinger viewing, Dalton was officially the current Bond. So I'll always have a soft spot for his interpretation and his films, even though---like Brosnan---I don't think he ever truly got a great Bond movie. A lot of people say Dalton brought Fleming back before Craig, but I still think the makers of the movies were not fully committed to Fleming yet, with Dalton's Bond still doing wheelies and sliding down mountains in a cello case.

It's good that Lazenby is being retroactively credited with being a good Bond and that his Bond film considered one of the best. Personally, it took me years, but I finally warmed up to Lazenby and OHMSS. I used to think Lazenby was too much of a Connery clone, but when you really watch the movie, I think Lazenby comes onto his own, especially in the last half of the film as he allows Bond a touch of vulnerable humanity to go along with all the action and intrigue. When it comes to the fight scenes, I think Lazenby was one of the better Bonds.

I think it's a bit silly to invest very much into the leaked emails being reported in that link as they are being presented entirely out of context.

Too, Pascale, while co-chariman of the studio, may also be possibke that she just plain may not have read the script or even been on the early internal distribution of the script.

Re the script I think it's wrong to say there was no script. Apparently there was a script, written by John Logan, however it sopposedly was considered weak, not enough action and humour apparently, which is when Purvis and Wade were brought back in. The script has been further polished, apparently, by Jez Butterworth (which given I thought Edge of Tomorrow was great can only be a good thing).

Production has not been halted and apparently the movie is now okay with the budget

EXCLUSIVE: Despite a spate of reports to the contrary, Sony Pictures has not shut down production of all its films because of the hack attack that has shaken the film division to its core. The James Bond film Spectre is shooting in the UK; the untitled Peter Landesman-directed film about football concussions that stars Will Smith is shooting in Pittsburgh, and YA novel adaptation The Fifth Wave, about an alien invasion, is shooting in Atlanta.

Right, I've done a lot of digging and calling in favours.

I've confirmed that these emails and apparent complaints about the script are from much earlier this year. The plot has changed substantially since then through six months of rewrites by four writers.

Issues have been solved to the satisfaction of the Bond team and the studios.

Of course, it's all down to personal taste about what they've kept, but trust me that it can't be as bad as feared

Re the script I think it's wrong to say there was no script.

Agreed. Now it's said that an early draft of the script was leaked thanks to this recent hack :scream:

It's probably going to get out soon. I can keep my pants on and wait but I know a lot of you folks can't. It's like Doctor Who all over again.
