Anyone else... Besides teacake?
Are you assuming that, since Capt. Janeway and Seven of Nine had so many confrontations and Janeway took it upon herself to instruct Seven on how to behave, that Janeway and Seven were quietly attracted to each other and had an offscreen gay romance? Interesting take if you are.
I suppose if fans from the 1970s could fantasize about Kirk and Spock being secretly gay lovers (the "K/S ladies", I believe David Gerrold called them) then anything must be possible. I would hope, though, that the Janeway/Seven relationship became something other than "sparks flying". Combustible couples in fiction bore me after a while.
Seven and Torres might be another interesting pairing. They are both conflicted and frustrated from within, trying to learn their own true nature.
The lies we tell ourselves.
The only reason that Ellen wouldn't sleep with me is because she is gay.
So if I pretend that she's straight, she's still 20 thousand miles away, in a different tax bracket and married.
Every fantasy we have about anyone gay or straight, requires a massive series of untruths and omissions for that fantasy to become logistically feasible.
Pressing groups of other persons together in our minds requires even more fibbing than that by half.
There are at least 10 reasons why Tom and Chakotay wouldn't hook up, before someone announced "but they're both straight!" first and foremost is that Tom does not respect Chakotay as a pilot.
Putting Spock and Kirk in hot tub together playfully is no more hyperfictious than Picard turning out to be Wesleys real father because everyone cheats on Jack.
Oh.
Also...
Flash fiction is funny.
Never really understood why people would want to ship characters that aren't gay. It feels kinda odd somehow.
Not because of the gay part, mind you. No issues with that. I would find it equally odd if there's a gay character on a show and you would ship that person with a hetero character.
But that's me I guess.
