I really don't care or mind the Disney-influence.

But:
The character-name "Maleficent" is a Disney-invention.
The character-name "Jiminy Cricket" is a Disney-invention.
The Dwarves' names are the ones Disney came up with.
The Evil Queen demands Snow White's heart as evidence for her murder instead of her lung and liver - Disney.
Cinderella's look.
Pinocchio's look.
The idea of a trapped spirit inside the Magic Mirror.
Everything incorporated from Frozen.
...

The Disney-influences are there, not surprisingly, since ABC is owned by Disney.

Plus the little fact that the show is primarily inspired by Disney Fairy Tales, it's right there in the Title "Once Upon a Time"

Those are just the words with which many fairy tales start.

I was very happy to finally see Anna and Elsa reunited---- and I am a lukewarm fan of Frozen! I really like the actress who plays Elsa; she really makes the character come alive (unlike Anna).

Elizabeth Lail isn't doing too bad a job. There are only so many ways you can play goofy and awkward and earnest...and Kristen Bell pretty much covered all of them using only her voice.

At least she's doing better than the guy playing Kristoff...

For a moment there, I was worried that they would actually kill off Anna and Kristoff by drowning them in the bottom of the ocean. Half the season of Elsa looking for her sister, and never finding out what happened to her would have been a pretty tragic ending.

Also it is pretty funny how Hans accomplished WAY more on this show than he ever did in the movie. He only locked Elsa up, left Anna alone to die (the dumbest play from the Evil Overlord handbook), and try to murder Elsa in the movie. But on this show Hans immediately took over Arendelle after being unfrozen for 30 years! Arendelle's citizens suck if they really allowed themselves to be paid to be conquered!

What happens now though?

I'm expect the next episode to be with the characters dealing with the curse. But will Elsa and Anna ever get Arendelle back from Hans, or will the midseason finale end with those characters just going home to try to save their kindgom? They could have any entire half season next year of the cast traveling in Arendelle, but I know that won't be happening since Frozen's time on Once is quickly running out. Will the Frozen characters be staying safe in town, just forever remaining in the background?

Elizabeth Lail is doing great for someone who got such a big role immediately after finishing college. I'm really glad the producers went with someone so new. Talk about a big break for the actress!

I wasn't expecting Georgina Haig as Elsa. I liked on Fringe, so I was pleased she was picked and she has been knocking it out of the park from the start.

Scott Michael Foster is fine as Kristoff. He was a little shaky as Kristoff in the first episodes, but has grown into the role.

Elizabeth Mitchell is wonderful as Ingrid the Snow Queen. It has now become her favorite role of mine along with Juliet from LOST.

The breakout star has been has been the reindeer they picked to play Sven! Perfect casting!

I think the show has substantially altered Snow White/Charming/Evil Queen(Regina)/Rumple(Beast)/Belle/Hook/etc... in this show as compared to any changes Disney made when they originally used the chars.

If you watched Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and came out of it thinking Snow was a bad ass fighter who as a child got the first love of the Evil Queen killed which led to her turning evil and learning sorcery from Rumplestiltskin who is also the Beast and the son of Peter Pan...

I've been avoiding ALL previews and episode listing summaries starting with the third episode of this season, and the show has been MUCH more enjoyable as a result. I'll probably avoid this topic entirely after the next episode airs since I don't want to know anything about the midseason finale.

The clip on that page doesn't even qualify as a spoiler. They already showed Regina running loose in her Evil Queen outfit in the preview at the end of last episode.

I haven't been watching the episode previews. But knowing Regina is in her Evil Queen outfit implies we will be getting the Evil Queen in a flashback. That is a spoiler no matter how small.
