Haven: Season 5 Discussion (Spoilers)

Duke is playing her.

Mara has contempt and no respect, but women often mistake vaginal hubris for pussy pride.

What???

So what is the CDC Doctor's deal? Not with the CDC...on to Lucy/Audrey/etc. I'm surprised Dwight isn't taking that more seriously.

William Shatner!!

:techman:

Duke knows the difference between good and evil.

He may have wobbly definitions of right and wrong, but he should be fine with good and evil.

Mara is evil, and Duke has been around the block enough that sex does not equal hypnosis.

(It's like you've never watched a James Bond movie.)

Just because they are sleeping together now, Mara might assume that Duke will follow her orders and do anything she says for as long as he thinks that more sex is on he table, otherwise she would not have taken her trousers off? Why manipulate the unmanipulatable? Simple. She cannot fathom a human being that she can not manipulate, so they don't exist. Don't get me wrong, she has done the right things to brainwash Duke, but I really don't think that he is falling for it, and he gains more to see how this plays out than laugh at her vaginal hubris.

Hmmm.

Do you watch Homeland?

Clare Dane's character is getting shit from all her subordinates because she had sex with a nineteen year old until he turned on his faith, his family and his militant political leanings, and then got shot in the face for allowing her vagina to turn his moral compas upside down.

(This is not sexist. Some men can control some women with sex too. If you can be controlled by sex, it doesn't mean that you are a man or a woman, it just means that you are an idiot, and being an idiot has nothing to do with gender.)

Yup. Happens all the time.

I saw the article about William Shatner, which was pretty surprising. The same article included a whole list of upcoming guest stars, which notably did not include Colin Ferguson. I wonder if the Shat will play his boss or something, making him redundant.

Colin just finished 7 episodes of Vampire Diaries which he did not survive.

So, he is looking for work again?

Wasn't he "murdered" on Haven?

(Notice the commas, lets just assume that they are inverted.)

He does major appliance commercials, so he's probably looking for work. :rommie:

I hadn't heard about him being on VD, and I have a friend who still watches.

On Haven, he was sent back to the "other side." Mara wants, or wanted, to get him back, so she believes him to be alive.

You say "boss" but that just makes me think that he is playing Mara's dad.

Which might qualify Mara as an Alien Princess if Shatner turns out to be the boss of everything on the other side.

Weren't Mara and William being punished by being exiled or something? Not a Disney princess anyway. Maybe the newcomer(s) is in league with fake CDC woman.

What happened at the very end of the episode? My recording cut off as fake CDC woman was demanding her ring back.

Not surprised that Charlotte is from the other side-- I expected her to be a colleague of Agent Howard-- but I didn't see the Mama thing coming.

Nor did I see Duke turning into an aether-producing machine. Yikes.

Mara's self amputation was a bit weird, too. What the hell? :cardie:

Maybe they can use genetic material from the toe to stabilize Audrey.

Well, I hope not. :rommie: I was thinking more along the lines of Charlotte having some other-dimensional technology that can use it as a template to do a repair.

I'm waiting for Scully and Mulder to show up. This reminds me of X-Files with the black stuff coming out of the eyes.
So Mara-mom is kind of a major cougar with Dwight.

Finally caught up this morning.

I can't believe they fell for Mara's tricks AGAIN! These people are idiots.

I wonder what the woods/Dave's visions have to do with anything?

No. Mara didn't trick them.

"And If I die, Duke explodes." was a rule.

Someone broke the rule.

Unless you're suggesting that Mara allowed herself to die to set Duke off when she could have just set him by thinking him to go boom?

If so, that's even worse than the thing with the toe.

I mean Duke should never have trusted her in the first place. He should have kept her chained up on his ship.
