The Flash - Season 1

This weeks episode was the first one I've seen. I have to say while I would've liked to of seen a few more superspeed stunts it wasn't bad at all. I really enjoyed the knobs to classic bronze and Silver age continuity

Easter egg: On of the movie posters was for "Nighthawk and Cinnamon", two of DC's western characters.

Ooh, that could be an interesting bit of worldbuilding. What if, in this universe where DC's superheroes are not fictional, DC Comics is known for its various non-superhero titles, like its Western comics, romance comics, crime comics, horror comics, and the like? So the big fictional heroes that Barry and Cisco and whoever read comics about are cowboys and monster-fighters and astronauts and such. Sort of like how everyone in Watchmen reads pirate comics.

Actually, shouldn't they exist in the universe were Barry Allen reads comic books about superheroes and in which the flash is a guy named Jay Garrick? ;)

And what about the part where Barry explains away his costume by saying that he was coming home from a "cosplay" party? What do people cosplay as in this universe?

This almost makes me wish that they had reserved John Wesley Shipp for a "Flash of Two Worlds" adaptation.

The one thing that nobody seemed worried about when they talked about jump-starting Barry's powers: Didn't the first lightning bolt put him in a coma for months?

"Hey, let's recreate the accident that gave you your powers. Then, when you come to in six months, you can save us!"

Yeah, yeah, you can rationalize it away with some comic-book science, but I was surprised that nobody even brought it up.

"Um, didn't this put me in a coma last time?"

It wasn't just the lighning bolt that gave Berry his powers, the combination of the chemicals on the shelves were a part of it.

Brainy was known to have his periods of...mental instability....

And he was part of a Legion conspiracy to kill the Time Trapper--violating Legion bylaws.

Legion bylaws against altering the timeline or legion bylaws against murder?

One seems mildly more important than the other.

Murder. Brainy, Mon-El, Duo Damsel, Saturn Girl, and Rond Vidar went after the Trapper for killing Superboy.

We know Wells isn't Reverse-Flash (since the synopsis for Episode 9 specifically mentions Wells as being involved in trying to stop the RF), and, given previous comments from the producers, I doubt he'll be revealed to be another character from the comics.

Marvel Comics characters

Legion v.3 #46 (May 1988)

Wasn't Superboy fake, a construct invented by the Time Trapper at that point?

I was too busy wondering why he (along with so many other people) pronounced it "cozplay," as if it had something to do with Bill Cosby. It's short for "costume play," so it should be said with an S sound, not a Z sound. (And it's kosupure in Japanese, not kozupure.)

I always thought that it would be funny if Stan Lee had a cameo in an MCU movie as... himself. Stan Lee: Creator of such fictional superheroes as Spider-Man, The X-Men and the Fantastic Four.

Like how that Simpsons episode featured Matt Groening, creator of Futurama!
