Once Upon A Time Season 4

On the plus side, Ingrid makes a good villain due to her calm, methodical approach. Considering the time she had to spend waiting for that 'perfect' third sister her having a long range view of things is not surprising. I do like her jousting with Rumple- they are equal in many ways, respect the others power and are constantly trying to out maneuver each other.

I also like the fact that her plan is pretty creepy. And she's a big improvement on the Wicked Witch.

I was luke-warm and cold about Juliet on LOST, and didn't appreciate her character on the new V, but, I really like Ingrid

While I wasn't all that impressed with Ingrid's plan when it was first revealed, I'm starting like it and her more now. I think I've actually found most of the villains, and their backstories on the show pretty interesting.
I don't think anybody has posted on here that Merrin Dungey (Francie from Alias) has been cast as Ursula, and Victoria Smurfit (Lady Jayne from NBC's Dracula series) has been cast as Cruela De Vile. Apparently they will be teaming up withe the returned Maleficent, who will be played once again by Kristen Bauer van Straten, who previously played the role in Season 1. I have to admit, I am especially intrigued by Cruela becoming a character on the show. I think she'll be the first character from a Disney movie set in the modern day to appear on the show.

I like the fact that there's a bit of diversity on the show. Rapunzel was black, and now they're also going to cast a black actress to play Ursula.

Diversity is more than simply "white vs black".

Actually, one of my favorite actresses on the show has pointed out that the EVIL QUEEN is Latina! (and Italian if IMDB.com is right)

The actor who plays her father, Henry, is (Jose) Tony Perez.

I just found out that Marian is played by Christie Laing who is Canadian and of Belize/British descent.

And of course another "Lost" alum, Jose Garcia, played the "small" Giant, Anton.

I would point out that the only reason the genii, Sidney Glass, was a non-entity for 2 years was because the actor Giancarlo Giuseppe Alessandro Esposito was starring in another TV series (with the Snow Queen, Elizabeth Mitchell).

Sonequa Martin-Green had a 7 ep run on the show, but TPTB killed Tamara (thankfully) off in season 3 before Emma could do it!

And the reason we lost Mulan was probably related to the actress Jamie Chung being in 13 eps of the short lived TV series "Believe" in 2014. If Sidney is any indication, her character might show up now that "Believe" has been canceled. The OUaT version of the Mulan character would give you diversity in 2 directions.

Now that you mention it... every main cast member on the show is white, come to think of it...

Most main cast members are also related to each other, therefore they are the same race. Same reason the Brady Bunch is all white or the Jeffersons are all black.

Am I the only one completely bored by Ingrid as a villain? I love Elsa and Anna, and everything surrounding Gold's plan in this episode was great, from his scheming to the way he told the truth to get Emma to jump in the hat, to the scene Elsa had with Emma, to the confrontation with Hook (damn Killian, just... damn :( ). But Ingrid just leaves me completely unmoved and I've been tired of her for awhile now.

My main explanation for liking Ingrid is that I'm not a regular watcher of the show because I'm not impressed at all with any of the regulars. I think Ingrid is more interesting as a villain than I've ever seen Regina portray and I frigging can't stand Rumple. I frankly think Robert Carlyle is absolutley the worst choice to play an evil, wizened gnome. And Emma's just boring. Ingrid had to turn her into an Elsa clone just to make her interesting.

Make of this what you will.

^ The overt Disney influence on OUaT is far less prevalent than you clearly think it is, which suggests that you haven't actually watched it.

Wished tonight was ANOTHER 2 hour episode. :scream:

Can't wait to see The Evil Queen in Storybrook. :rommie:

Can't wait to see Rumplestiltskin get his comeuppance. :p

I think it must be Henry who scatters the marbles on the floor next week.

Why can't Elsa wish that shattered sight spell "Begone!"

Wonder how long that bottle will bob along the shoreline before Elsa and Anna come back for it. :cardie:

Whoa.

I know the good guys are supposed to win in the end, but it really looks like Ingrid's got this sewn up. With Rumple's help, the dick...

So Anna and Kristoff were frozen for 30 years, after the events in Frozen. It was quite an emotional reunion for the two sisters. It was a pretty good episode overall, but I feel Rumple being a second villain in this story doesn't work very well. The writers probably ran out of ideas and didn't know what to do with his character. I liked him better as a protagonist, especially during the Peter Pan arc.

I really don't care or mind the Disney-influence.

But:
The character-name "Maleficent" is a Disney-invention.
The character-name "Jiminy Cricket" is a Disney-invention.
The Dwarves' names are the ones Disney came up with.
The Evil Queen demands Snow White's heart as evidence for her murder instead of her lung and liver - Disney.
Cinderella's look.
Pinocchio's look.
The idea of a trapped spirit inside the Magic Mirror.
Everything incorporated from Frozen.
...

The Disney-influences are there, not surprisingly, since ABC is owned by Disney.

Disney set the appearance of a lot of classic fairy tales- most people have only seen the Disney versions. I do not mind having that reflected in this show- sometimes they have fun with it also. I loved the classic Snow White scene at the dwarf's cabin when she was darker- the little birds came to visit and sing with her, then she tried to kill them.

The only take OUaT did that I really hated was what they did with Peter Pan- definitely NOT Disney. He was the heavy and eventually discovered to be Rumple's father.

Plus the little fact that the show is primarily inspired by Disney Fairy Tales, it's right there in the Title "Once Upon a Time"
