Kirk - Love Machine

How many times did Kirk nail a "woman" in the 3 seasons (this includes aliens and also includes fondling/kissing etc). Wasn't he breaking any misconduct rules ? Maybe he just thought "stuff the prime directive, I'm getting some o'that"

...um...hello, 1-800 WORDSMITH? Yeah, I am calling from TREK BBS and we got a post here that needs some wordsmithing, Warp 7...better hurry!

Carol Marcus told Jim Kirk to "stay away," so that she could feed and water his seed ... in her world. And not have him "chasing through the universe through his father." What other distractions did The Good Captain really have, anyway? 3-Dimenional Chess? The Gym? Even in the 24th Century, with holodecks and ... and so forth ... there's just no substitute for a woman's touch. We all have our needs. STARFLEET understands this ...

It isn't a bad question at all. Lord knows there have been many references to Kirk's....dalliances around the TOS threads. I don't know if anyone has ever done a count though. Can you imagine the number if you included the books, as well, in the count.

I did a few years back, and while I don't have the numbers in front of me, the number of sex partners is almost surprisingly low.

Really Kirk is more of a flirt than a womanizer.

:)

I think we're all just biding time waiting for Christopher's standard lecture on the subject....

2/3 women bedded.
23 extra women Kirk kissed/fondled. Although I can't remember if he kissed the girl in "Deadly Years" or Edith Keeler.

"Nail a woman"?

Good grief...

I excused it as an age thing...I know I talked like that a very long time ago.

Really? That's it? My brain is telling me it's more than that - but it could very well be that I just thought it was more than that...

Half the time, Kirk was trying to distract the woman or get her on their side or get information out of her or something like that. He used his charisma as a weapon, every bit as potent as his phaser.

I was glad Spock got a turn in "The Enterprise Incident." It was clear he'd learned from a master.

Actually I recall reading an article on it on some site some years back. So someone has indeed counted.

I don't recall the numbers, but I do recall that the number of women we can deduce Kirk actually having intimate relations with is quite low (counting only TOS, TAS and the films).

He diid simply kiss a few more but again not that many. And we can distinguish between those where he was a willing participant and where he was coerced or under some influence (such as "Whom Gods Destroy" and "Plato's Stepchildren").

Kirk flirted and sometimes used his charm, but overall he was much more a charmer than a womanizer.

I think this is one of those things that has been grossly exaggerated over the years and taken as fact when in actually it doesn't hold much water.

And as a heroic character and series' lead of that era on television Kirk was little different than others of the same kind on other series. Hell, in Hogan's Heroes Colonel Robert Hogan was supposed to be a prisoner of war and yet he might have seen as much "action" as Kirk.

I think the actual count from that article where Kirk is basically assured of doing the deed was twice. Once with Miramanee (proof was in her pregnancy), and the other was Deela, ("proof" being Kirk pulling his boot back on).

In what we actually saw on onscreen, yes. There's also the slave Druscilla in "Bread And Circuses." The infoerence is pretty strong he might have indeed slept with her. And considering he was likely facing eventual execution he could well have taken the opportunity to spend part of his last hours "as a man" as the Procunsol put it.

But there can be cases made for those we know Kirk was once involved with before the events seen onscreen.

Ruth
Areel Shaw
Janet Wallace
Janice Lester

If we include the films then by evidence he had to have slept with Carol Marcus.

Depends if you count slave girl Drusila in "Bread and Circuses".

Also depends on your definition of 'fondling'. I'm pretty sure he grabbed onto Rand in some episode when they thought the end was near/sudden elevator ride. I know he did with Helen Noel. But should either of these count when they weren't meant to be romantic. Yet I wouldn't count Wolf in the Fold as an episode where Kirk kissed/touched a woman even though he was clearly out looking (well basically) for prostitutes in that episode.

the sophmoric tone of the original post aside, this is a,fascinating subject, if for no other reason than as an example of a reputation run wild and in no way as virulant as commonly imagined.

Kirk's romantic daliancies have many forms, all the way from a romantic embrace to a complete physical relationship. Here's what I turned up ...

By most conventional thought and substantiated by on-screen "evidence", Kirk is attributed to two physical relations on TOS ... as mentioned before Mirramanee substantiated by their being wedded and her pregnancy and Deela by virtue of the "boot" scene. However, by using the vernacular of the day, mid-1960s American television, I submit there are three other certain occurances and one "possible":

1 - As mentioned before, the slave girl Drusilla in Bread and Circuses. PROOF: If a scene ends with a man and woman in a passionate kiss, and the next scene is the man laying in the bed in a very relaxed state, that's a sure-thing.

2 - Under an alien influence, Kirk makes love with the bride-to-be in Elaan of Troyius. PROOF: Again, a scene ends in the passionate kiss, and the next scene with Kirk has him sitting on Elaan's bed with her laying down behind him, then sitting up to playful tease him. By the standards of the day, that's borderline soft-core porn.

and if you'll pardon the pun, #3 is my "sleeper" pick -
3 - Odanna in The Mark of Gideon. Yep, sweet kind-hearted Odanna. PROOF: Kirk and Odanna engage in a passionate kiss on the bridge of the empty Enterprise, then break the kiss and walk toward the turbo-lift. The show goes to a commercial break and in the very first scene afterwards, Kirk and Odanna exit Kirk's private quarters, closely clutched together and clearly at ease in each other's arms. Not to belabor a point, but looking through the lens of 1960s TV, that screams "IT HAPPENED!" Although, maybe in the midst of that steamy kiss with Odanna up on the bridge, Kirk realized his toenails were in need of trimming and the two of them rushed to his quarters to retrieve his clippers and Odanna was astoundingly pleased that Kirk chose that over her ... just saying.

POSSIBLE: Edith Keeler. It's not certain how long Kirk and Edith were involved, nor how far their relationship went.

That said, even taking into account all the times Kirk embraced, kissed or even flirted with a woman, sometimes under alien influence or as a ploy to gain an advantage, by my count in 53 episodes, essentially 2/3rds of the entire series, Kirk had NO INTERACTION what so ever with a female character that in any way could be considered "romantic". Hardly the reputation an "Interstellar Outlaw of Love".
