As I write this, gray clouds hang low in the sky and night begins to fall, the dying leaves rustle in the skeletal trees, shivering in the cold breath of October winds, moved, perhaps, by restless spirits. This is the night when the dead rise from their crypts, vampires rise from their tombs, and werewolves rise from their bowls of Purina Werewolf Chow, with but one thought in their macabre minds: Trick or Treat! Just a quick detour here, I can't resist. Maybe one or the other among you have noticed these past few av contests, I have been doing these little puns, combining the word "vote" and one's stemming from it with phrases related to the respective contest theme. Most of those were pretty groan-worthy (as puns often are), and some have been pretty bad, actually. But the one I came up earlier in this thread ...

I ain't afraid of no votes.

I have to say, this may be the best one I've come up with since I started this thing, and I can't stop thinking about it ever since I posted it. I even sometimes return to this thread just to look at that post and read it again, getting another tingly feeling out of it. And to think it was the one right after one of my worst (over in the TV & Media contest, I won't even bother quoting it here), posted within minutes of each other.

Ooo, I just read it again. Still makes me smile. And feel good about myself.

Okay, the more I think of it, that's a stupid idea. There's something you could do with it, but not a lot, so not really working for a contest.

But that Peanuts strip is nice, anyway.
