I think we are a LONG way off from that. I mean way way off from calling it the next GoT. There's been plenty of historicalish fiction as of late that I thought held a lot of potential and with a few exceptions (Spartacus and Vikings) have been pretty bad. I'm thinking Camelot, Black Sails, Da Vinci's Demons.
Also I def think this is the wrong forum, there's no indication that this is anything other than historical fiction

For a second I thought this thread was in the Doctor Who forum, and that the long-lost serial of the same title had been found and would be a netflix exclusive 
As far as historical dramas go I'm fond of the Roman stuff but this might be interesting as well.

What makes GofT is the fact that the writer has spent twenty years creating the world and the story. There is no way a bunch of screenwriters can pull that off over a few months--sorry.

Unless they're adding science fiction elements then no. Maybe he finds aliens or something in this?
Of course its science fiction--doesn't he discover that the earth is round or the earth orbits the sun?

I wish it had been found. The 30-minute reconstruction they did of the serial on the Doctor Who The Beginning DVD was great and made me really want to see it.
Still, I'm looking forward to Marco Polo on Netflix. I do like a good historical epic.
