If you've ever seen the Dial M for Monkey segment "Quackor the Fowl" on Dexter's Laboratory, that's where Welker really takes everyone to school with his symphony of duck and monkey noises!^Well, there was a time when, if you needed any kind of unusual vocal effect or animal sound, you called Frank Welker. In addition to his character roles, he's done innumerable animal noises in TV shows, movies, and commercials. These days, Dee Bradley Baker seems to have taken his place as the go-to animal-noises guy. There's a bit in I Know That Voice where Baker is doing some of his animal sounds on camera, and it's just so weird to see him doing it.
TAS successfully filled the continuity between TOS and TMP. It gave us the rest of the five year mission.![]()
I agree, but I actually like the 70's soundtrack. Nice to "hear" how Star Trek transitioned into the 1970's. To me.![]()
I expect a "Thanks to EnriqueH" credit, you bastards!
I like the 70s music too, but they play the same themes OVER and OVER and OVER.
I think putting in the old themes would help alleviate some of the repetitiousness of the TAS scores.
TAS' music gets old FAST because they keep using the themes, so it doesn't lend itself to binge viewing.
Yes, moreso than TOS. There are pieces in TOS that are quite '60s sounding, but a lot of it seems timeless. TAS' music is very '70s.There's definitely a 'period' thing going on with the TAS music, which does give it a strange appeal. Music seems to evoke time periods like no other medium quite can.

Ah, but just imagine the music (probably all 15 minutes of it) on an old, self-repeating 8-track tape!![]()
I can with this in context of retrospect.I enjoyed TAS, but it just didn't feel like the animated Season 4 and 5 that I was hoping for.
The other thing is I can't imagine TAS' music layered into TOS' live-action.
That's not the same as using it in TOS.The other thing is I can't imagine TAS' music layered into TOS' live-action.
For what it's worth, some of it was recycled into later live-action shows from Filmation -- I think some of the cues are used in the first season of Jason of Star Command. And some of the cues used in TAS were, I believe, recycled from Lassie's Rescue Rangers, and a lot of LRR cues were reused in the live-action Shazam and Isis. So there's at least a bit of overlap there.
That's not the same as using it in TOS.
