Looks pretty decent to me though a couple of character beats wouldn't have been unwelcome. I think at this point everyone probably knows whether they're seeing it or not, this is just icing on the cake.

Have there been any theories as to whether Claudia Kim's character comes from the mainstream comics or not? Or just detailed theories about her character in general?

My big quote above was in regards to the fact that us Comic Book Movie/ Sci fi fans, no matter how ardent we are and no matter how much we spread positive vibes about this film, only makes a small percentage of the audience that they are targeting. They are targeting to people that are bored on a Friday. So please respond to my comments in that context.

Also I know it's only a teaser but there was no humor in this trailer.. it was more serious than a DC film.. and the "masses" that go to the movie really appreciated the humor of the first film.

^They were just emphasizing the big action sequences here, I have a feeling we'll get more of the stuff you're looking for in a later trailer.
I loved the trailer, it was a great teaser. Teaser's are just get you pumped and to tell the people who are unaware that a movie is coming, and this did that perfectly.
Lots of very interesting theories floating around.

Ultron saying "there are no strings on me" has been bouncing around in my head all day. that was an awesome moment. I can't wait to see that in the movie.

There is no shortage of humor in the MCU. Just with Downey being there you pretty much automatically get humor.

This. The implication that people who are going to see the second Avengers movie aren't already watching AoS is just asinine. The general public isn't even going to know it was coming in the next week's episode if they're not already watching this week's.

    Stupid.

Not only that, but the way ad-supported TV works a show's future isn't saved by a one-off ratings spike.

You can't trust anybody in Hollywoodland or TV Land can you? Doctor Who scripts for series 8 got leaked by a staffer. An unknown extra leaked plot details about Batman v Superman and is looking at a fine of $5 million dollars from WB. And now Marvel has their plans to debut AoU trailer spoiled one week in advance; because someone with access to the video leaked it online. WTF

Having just read the article (Can't say I liked the whole advert before entering screen) and it's just one mans small minded speculation on very little data. Personally, if I was head of that form of marketing at Disney, I would still go ahead with the possibility of airing new trailers with Disney related programmes. I just wouldn't have such a lead time between announcing the trailer and then airing it, there is no need to do so. Have VO's at the end of a programmes in the day or so before, which would reduce down the chance of a "leak" and then viewers will know about it or even post in the 12 hours before hand on social media. Yes it won't catch everyone, but it will catch a large chunk of who the trailer is aimed at.

As for the trailer, I liked it, Mrs Dimesdan-to-be liked it even though she had no idea who Ultron was.

This is exactly why I love the movie. It brought me back to playing superheroes with my friends and our action figures as a kid, before dark and gritty was a thing and before I cared about the implications of superheroes in the real world. It was fun and that was exactly what I wanted from it. Same reason I loved Guardians of the Galaxy.

Leave it to the solo films to clean up the mess and give the proper oomph to the heavier aspects of the plot.

Lets be real. With youtube, nobody tunes in to shows, or goes to the movies to see trailers anymore. I sincerely doubt anyone would sit through an hour of SHIELD to watch the trailer, unless they were inclined to watch the show anyway. Especially since even if it didn't get leaked, it would be on youtube in about 10 minutes after it aired.

To me, thinking that would be a successful marketing strategy to boost ratings for SHIELD is as backwards thinking as Kodak not switching to digital. The only way to boost ratings from Avengers stuff would be to have the Avengers do cameo's in the show, and drop some Ultron story lines in it. Even if marvel fanboys hate the show, they'll tune in just for easter eggs, cameo's, and stuff like that.

This trailer did nothing for me. I have no doubt that I'll love the movie, but all these Marvel trailers are starting to look the same to me.

At this point it's save to say that Marvel made the movie franchise into a theater series with many similarities to a tv series where every episode is an event two parter with very high production values. :)

I think that's why Guardians of the Galaxy ranks near or at the top of my Marvel movie list -- it's one of the only ones that doesn't feel like a two-hour commercial for the next film.
