The Walking Dead Season 5

Jesus, if Shane was still alive to hear this, they'd have to put another bullet in his head. lol

Man, and we would have thought his ranting over the hunt for Sophia and the walkers in the barn were bad.

I felt like I missed something when Gareth was talking to Bob like he knew him and like Bob had screwed him over somehow. Guess I didn't.

I didn't notice Gareth calling Bob by his first name in that scene, but I did notice that in the last episode. I figured Gareth had just overheard one of the others, but....

Bob: You don't have to do this. We told you there's a way out of all this. You just have to take a chance. We have a man who knows how to stop it. He has a cure. We just have to get him to Washington. You don't have to do this, man. We can put the world back to how it was.

Gareth: Can't go back, Bob.

*******

Another thought. Perhaps Bob being the survivor of two groups refers to him being in a doomed group, Terminus taking him in, then the second group being Gareth and co. losing their humanity and Bob deciding it was time to GTFO.

I've tried rewatching the THEN portion with Gareth in the boxcar, but isn't that Bob huddled up in the background?

Maybe he did just gtfo..

Maybe he said he never killed anyone(other than the woman that asked him to) because, like that guy said in the first episode, that isn't our job. Maybe Bob's job was to get people to terminus. And wasn't it weird he was the last in the firing line.

Bob in the background? How cool would that be?? I'd love to see a screen cap of that.

Whoa, all these Bob/Terminus theories are pretty cool.

Not sure if they're correct or not, but I thank you all for sharing them. You just made the current Terminus/hunters storyline much more interesting to me.

Being a reader of the comics, I'm glad that the storyline did not end with the pilot episode. I really like that the writers seem to be sticking to this story arc because it was really good and has a lot of implications.

That said, this "Fear the Hunters" story is the last one I read so I think I better pick up the next volume.

None of them really make that much sense though. They know his name because he probably told it to them. Everything else seems like a stretch.

I want to say I agree but it did feel odd when he addressed him by name the first time. For some reason, at first I thought he was calling him Bob because he called everyone Bob. Now I'm unsure.

Ryan8bit's avatar gives me a headache if I look at it too long!

Also I'm not sure his Enterprise C is the correct one.

It looks right to me.

I will grant you that it could be a stretch, but Gareth does not address anyone else by name other than Bob; he speaks to Rick, but do not recall him saying Rick's name. Again, that may something minor or insignificant, but Bob was introduced as a mystery with a past.

In a series like TWD, that past cannot be alcohol alone, as that was explored and not a big deal that changed or built on larger plot lines. Bob's story--up to this point---is that he rejected the idea of permanent groups because previous associations ended in disaster, and he was an alcoholic. And? If the writers leave his development with that after hinting more in the lead up to season 4, he will be another poorly used character....that ends up on a grill.

I liked the second episode.

The new character Father Gabriel is interesting. I think Gabriel locked people out of the church when they were being attacked by zombies, and I don't see how that is any more evil than what our heroes have done.

The Beth plot this season will be the silly plot of the year like the Sophia plot. I will keep asking myself why they are wasting so much time on such a minor character.

I just KNEW Bob was a goner in the middle of the episode, no one can be too happy this show without something awful happening to them. I was pretty shocked at the end scene with Bob's burgers. The new crazy cannibal Hunter baddies look formidable. Rick's group better kick their asses.

Hopefully, the church doesn't become the new farm, with the cast spending the entire first half of of this season there. Who knows right? AMC is cheap as hell with this show, and they might have blown their season budget with that awesome action packed season 5 opener. :p

I do not believe locking people out was the only thing on Gabriel's to-do list.

Beth is one of the few characters to grow since their debut season. She's certainly not the frightened girl from the farm any longer. If the long-expected death does not happen, look for Beth to return to avenge the loss of...someone.

It's not evil in a traditional sense given how quickly society fell apart and how desperate everyone probably was at the time. But for a Man of God who devotes his life to being good, kind and not only saving people spiritually but also in way doing it physically he's probably consumed with guilt of causing the deaths of his parishioners wanting into the church.

Regards to Beth, to us it may be a "waste of time" searching for a "minor character" but to our characters they're looking for a friend and/or family member who was mysteriously taken so they're not going to easily give-up.

Beth's situation is also different than the one Sophia was in, with Beth she was apparently taken by someone so they have pretty good reason to suspect she's still alive and can be retrieved. With Sophia, well, Shane was kind of right there that they spent too much time looking for her. We were talking about a weak-willed, grade-school aged girl trapped in a wooded area for several days without food, water or shelter with walkers around. After a couple of days they shouldn't have really been expecting to find her alive anymore.

Beth, at least, they've decent reason to suspect she's still alive and there's no reason to not pursue the vehicle that took her. Plus, her name's still in the credits and she's still listed as a regular cast member so it seems likely she'll be recovered. ;)
