Haven: Season 5 Discussion (Spoilers)

Edge is still billed as a guest star. They've only subtracted from the main cast credits (Nathan's father), never added.
That's a shame. He deserved to be in the main cast.

I hear William is trapped in a hellish purgatory where he waits eternally to repair Maytag washers . . . .
That black goo suddenly became a lot more disgusting.

Eric Balfour tweeted that the actress definitely wouldn't be returning
That's what I was a afraid of. That's a shame, too. She was good, and a good match for Duke.

Yeah, I liked Jennifer. I had just assumed she would continue on the show.

As for those Maytag commercials, hey...a guy's gotta eat, right?

So Jennifer is really dead...at least for now (it is Haven, after all).

Vince has been dethroned by the Chief, who really has some valid points. Nathan just seemed to be getting over his "Audrey is still in there" thing...and then the final scene...

It's too bad Dave doesn't remember anything from his trips (or at least that's what he says). What is it over there? Are there two "over-theres", one a normal parallel world, and the other some kind of punishment zone that William was sentenced to?

Lastly, I really like the Coroner lady. Always have. She's great.

I still prefer Mara.

Meanwhile, has anybody actually read "The Colorado Kid?" Because now that i have, I think the blurb in the intro should read "Based on absolutely nothing ever written by STEPHEN KING in his natural life, especially not THE COLORADO KID."

I didn't read the book initially because I didn't want any spoilers. But since then I have heard the same thing...the show is almost completely unrecognizable as The Colorado Kid.

I think in the producers' mind, "The Colorado Kid" is set in a small island town with weird stuff that happened, so "let's make a show about a small island town where weird stuff always happens!"

The problem is the theme of the book is that some mysteries will go forever unsolved, specifically the mystery revolving around the title character, and Haven is a show where solutions to the weird mysteries get found every week. I think it would be a more interesting show if they'd actually tried to follow the source material.

But then I guess the show wouldn't have lasted five seasons.

I guess I'm just lost.

But...Mara's still more interesting than audrey. (I know I'm repeating myself, but that's all I've got to hang my hat on...)

To me, Mara is just unknown, not interesting. Her only characteristic is malevolence. It does seem that Audrey is still rattling around in there, too.

Mara's also snarky. That's what I like. I like snarky villains.

I suppose Audrey could be snarky too, but villainous snark is more fun...

He might be in the majority of the remaining episodes anyway. They just don't have to pay him for the episodes he's not in. Hell, they basically renewed the show for two seasons but are calling it the same season so no one gets a raise (though it's also possible they did it as a Canadian tax break loophole).

Yeah, it seems like he will be playing a major role, now that he's the boss of the Guard. Vince seemed okay with that-- maybe. So Dwight will either be a major player, or he'll be killed off. :rommie:

I was sorry to see Jennifer go. Maybe she will be back somehow, but it doesn't seem likely. Poor Duke can't catch a break.

The sunbeam trouble was a bit silly...

The episode felt strange to me, disjointed between the "trouble of the week" and the Mara/Audrey storyline.

It is set up nicely for Dwight and Mara to go at it. I wonder what they're doing with Dave?

Mara/Audrey is getting tedious. Or maybe it's Nathan who is tedious. I hope the show moves along faster than this last episode. Liked Duke losing his ponytail.

I think Emily Rose is having a lot of fun playing Mara. Her snarky comments, body language, mocking Nathan-- mocking Nathan's body language. :rommie:

The sunbeam thing was a bit weird-- it felt like something was missing. Maybe something got left on the cutting room floor, or maybe there's more to come. Why was there an additional beam every time it happened? And why couldn't she stand still, or bend over and direct it into the ground?

I couldn't tell you. I gave up after the fifth beam showed up and watched Miracle Day on Netflix

Even my Mara love can't get me through this on a reg'lar basis...

If you're still watching, Haven has been moved to Fridays because of NFL football. It will air at... 7 Eastern/6 Central.

Don't know if this is permanent or not.

So they let Mara try to help, and guess what...she betrayed them and killed more people.

Come on, you dunces!

:scream:

What's going on with Dave??

An unusual time slot but I kind of like it. Less conflict with other shows this way.
