Read and finished this yesterday. Its a fun book that can be read at anytime (assuming you know about the Picard/Crusher romance).

It was actually good to get away slightly from my Pre Destiny read through as everything close to it is either borg related or sience fiction heavy(ish) titan books.

My only slight gripe (its silly really) is the bit when they are telling Q to go on adventures himself, Q actually already answered this in his appearance in DS9 that he alone could not experience the same wonder as seeing it through Vash's eyes.

I know you meant that jokingly, but that's not that odd, is it? I'm nearing 30 and I haven't been to one since I was like 8. And I can barely remember that one.

(Almost) same here: I'm nearing 40, and the only wedding in my life I've been to was when I was...6? or so. All I remember was being taken to sleep to some building (it was a "country" wedding), and I was so scared being left there alone in the dark that I went back to the wedding banquet, and stayed all night with everyone

I finished it. I see it written as a light hearted untold story of Picard. I do not see it as really out of character for Q as in the ending as he still is the center of the event. What he does for Picard is a generous reward for perhaps Q's favorite pet.

During that trilogy the current timeline version of Vash accompanied the alternate timeline versions of Picard and Nog 26,000 years into the past to become historical figures on Bajor.

As if that would stop Q.... He can go wherever he wants. So time travel or alternate versions of Vash are possible. Or it's only assumed she died there...

Voted average on this one. An enjoyable enough story, but nothing that's special or stands out. Like a couple of others have commented, Josephs seemed to get Q's voice right. Always fun to hear John de Lancie's snide and pompous tones in my head!

Again, as others have noted here and in other threads, the enovellas often feel like episodes to me. As such, I expect that the TNG novellas sometimes may have connections to other episodes and stories and sometimes will not. So the lack of reference or connections to other Q novels didn't really bother me much. Even the Q episodes didn't refer to one another too much, unless they were directly continuing a storyline from an earlier episode. This felt like one of many average episodes of TNG -- you can enjoy it while it lasts and then mostly forget about it. And I'm good with that.

I liked q's dialog, very q-y, however continuity put me off.

Wasn't the wedding supposed to be conducted by Guinan, and involve a few friends and family (including Wesley)?

Do you mean Q (as in John DeLancie), or q (as in his son [Fun trivia: who was played by John DeLancie's real life son Keegan])? I'm assuming that was a typo, but I just wanted to make sure.

Good to see Q as well, shame Q wasn't there, but I believe the Voyager relaunch has Q, Q, Q, Q and Q in it.

Just posted my review today.

Sad to say that this one didn't blow me away. There were some touching parts, like the ceremony Q conjured up, but for the most part I was kind of underwhelmed.

For the first time in years I had to vote below average. I was just not impressed. The characters never felt like themselves, except for maybe Q himself. I wanted to love this book because the story idea is so much fun but it's execution left much to be desired.

"Silly Q" is always at risk of becoming a parody of himself.

But I enjoyed the story a lot, especially the setting - old Earth, the Delta Quadrant, references to the Gamma Quadrant.

With this story, Picard is now the first Enterprise captain in TrekLit to have been in all four quadrants of the galaxy. Unless I'm missing something?

Hmm, was this Picard's first trip to the Delta Quadrant? System J-25 was in the Beta quadrant I believe, so not a problem. Did they visit the Delta quadrant in Descent? I'm assuming the "Galactic Core" they went to in the Nth Degree doesn't count.

Geordi was a captain, on the enterprise, in Indistinguishable from Magic.

Alpha/Beta Quadrant: pre-Encounter at farpoint
Gamma quadrant: Typhon Pact (I forget which one)
Delta: The Price

But Indistinguishable from Magic and the typhon pact were after Q Are Cordially Uninvited, and IFM in a strange one in continuity.

Strip the requirement for "Enterprise" captain, and I think you're just left with Kira: Delta quadrant in Gateways, Alpha and Gamma many times on screen, and I assume she's been to the beta quadrant at one point, but I can't think when.

As far as I can tell, she has not. My first thought was "Sound of Her Voice", but I forgot she was part of the B-plot in that episode. I can't even find mentions of her visiting any of the major Federation Beta Quadrant worlds like Vulcan or Andor.

You would be thinking of Typhon Pact - Plagues of Night and Raise the Dawn.

Nothing listed on Memory Beta at least for Riker visiting the Gamma Quadrant.

Did Worf ever visit the Delta Quadrant? He's served as Captain of the Defiant at least once, and I'm sure he's been Acting Captain on the Enterprise as First Officer at some point by now.

She's at Narendra in The Brave and the Bold.
