I don't have a ready answer for this question. Except, perhaps, "versatility." That's what I think it's about. Its the one constant between GR, the Networks, the Studios, the merchandising and the fans. The product itself, the show, works as live action, cartoons, fan films, whatever. It's been everything but a musical, so far, and I'm convinced one day it will try that, in some way. But its versatility has been how it's found longevity and how it's gotten its stories out and messages of hope and inspiration over yay, these many decades. I don't know that it was made with "versatility" in mind, but it made STAR TREK accessible and available to Generations of people on the entire planet.
