Arrow's spin-off series The Flash starts on Tuesday October 7th on the CW. In the meantime, you can read the first issue of the digital comic called The Flash: Season Zero which is now available at Comixology.

The Flash: "Pilot" Review

"When I reviewed the Barry-centric episodes of Arrow, I wasn't entirely sold on Gustin's Barry. He seemed a little too young and awkward alongside the likes of Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen and David Ramsey's John Diggle. But Gustin has definitely grown on me since then. It's probably a combination of Gustin having had a little time to settle into the role and the fact that he's now the star of the show. Gustin delivers a winning blend of charm and dorkiness in this first episode that makes him endearing. There are elements of both Clark Kent and Peter Parker to this Barry Allen. The fact that he's gotten into superhero shape in the past year doesn't hurt either. His abs may not put Amell's to shame, but he does have the physique now to convincingly play a speedster superhero."

Another element working in The Flash's favor is that it has a sense of identity and purpose. This is something Arrow really struggled with early on as it tried to escape the shadow of Chris Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy." Read the full review.

I am so crazy excited for this show. I love Arrow, and I'm very curious to see how the guys behind it handle a more fantastic superhero show.

 

The pilot was released on line months ago.

The bad boys and girls are gagging to find out what's going on in episode 2.

 

I was never able to get into Arrow, but this one looks like it could be really fun.

 

I can't wait!

 

Is the pilot still out there, or did I miss it?

 

At this point, it is good marketing to release the pilot online. Helps build buzz for the show. How many more people are looking forward to Constantine and Flash now because of the leaked pilots.

In fact, when a show doesn't get leaked then it leads to suspicion that the studio might not be entirely confident in it.

 

You obviously don't completely understand what "I can't wait to see it" means since you are clearly waiting to see it?

Below is closer to what you mean?

"I can't wait to see it in a manner the producer will allow me to see it because s/he is the boss of me."

Of the 5 leaked episodes of Doctor Who, which was a really big thing, 2 of the 5 episodes had major changes, leaving us with completely different products.

 

Call me old-fashioned but I prefer to watch TV on TV as God intended . . .

Looking forward to catching the show when debuts.

 

I didn't like the prerelease of True Blood. Didn't like the release either. Took a while to warm to it really. But the difference between the release and the prerelease was that Kerry Washington was playing the part of the "sassy black friend" originally and then the part was recast with someone maybe half as attractive and twice as annoying.

 

I have no choice but to watch shows on my laptop cause I don't have a tv but I always wait till it is on the networks official site or hulu.

Wow. I was hoping they would find a way to bring her back, but didn't think it would actually be as the same character! Awesome news.

 

Well, a different reality's version of the same character, but still, that's awesome. That's pretty unusual, for the same actor to play a character in two different continuities. Well, it's happened a lot in animation (e.g. Olan Soule and Casey Kasem playing Batman and Robin for both Filmation and Hanna-Barbera, and Steve Blum and Fred Tatasciore playing Wolverine and Hulk in multiple Marvel animated realities), or in live-action characters reprising their roles in animation (e.g. Adam West and Burt Ward playing Batman and Robin in the second Filmation cartoon, or Clark Gregg playing Coulson in the Disney XD Marvel shows), but it's less common in straight-up live action. There's Dame Judi Dench playing M in the old and rebooted James Bond continuities, and Bob Hoskins played Smee in both Hook and Neverland. But those are about it, as far as I know.
