I will be in NYC in a week and I am desperately trying to find a good Broadway show to see. If anyone here has any suggestions, I am all ears. Shoot them my way, please! Anything any of you New Yorkers like, tell me. I'm listening!!!

(I am also browsing Ticketmaster and Telecharge but I value TrekBBS members' opinions much more than those.)

^ Unfortunately neither of those have any matinees the week I'm in the city. (My evenings will be taken up by baseball.)

Keep 'em coming though, folks. I'm still listening. :)

Two shows currently on Broadway that I've seen, and can highly recommend, are Les Miserables and Chicago. Of the two, Les Mis is the more epic, sweeping, moving story. But both are phenomenal productions, well worth the investment of time and money. Getting tickets to those may be a challenge, but I know that there are on-demand, same-day opportunities for certain shows. You might want to look into TKTS.

I miss the days of Urinetown. :sigh: I've seen it three times. The most hilarious thing I have ever seen on a stage. And some good music too.

You shouldn't rule out Off-Broadway either.

I recommend you check out a TKTS booth and see if you can get a good deal on a show.

I would have recommended the same ones as Locutus, so I dunno.

When I was in New York, I saw Wicked.

It was a lot of fun

^ unfortunately, no matinees for that one either. :(

@Robmax: I think TKTS is a good idea. Will have to check that one out.

If I were you, I would do everything in my power to see Cabaret. One of my absolute favorite musicals.

I wouldn't half mind seeing Movin' Out again (I'm a huge Billy Joel fan) but that is also not there anymore.

I second this, but it's not much of a comedy so might not be to MLB's liking.

^ I'm not entirely opposed to seeing something serious (I saw a play once, can't remember what it was called but it starred Richard Dreyfuss and Eric Stoltz, and I liked it a lot; also The Lion King here in Omaha and it was also great) but you are basically right, comedy is my main thing.

Maybe there is a revival of Damn Yankees playing somewhere.

I saw Once two years ago with the original cast, and really enjoyed it. It looks like they have a Wednesday matinee.
