On another board someone says there's mention of the TNG era in the JJ-verse, and some description of what it's like. Sadly, they had no details. Has anyone here seen that book? Can you tell us what it said/showed of the TNG era in the new timeline?
It's actually in #35: http://www.trektoday.com/content/2014/07/star-trek-35-preview/ The preview pages contain everything TNG-related, but it's not the JJ-verse.
Has 36 come out yet? Maybe there's more? Maybe a look at the JJ-verse TNG? (Thanks very much for the link, by the way!)
Nope; #36 is DS9 focused and all of the DS9-specific things look pretty much as they should (i.e. no JJverse modifications; strange, I know, but this IS a Q story, so...) The IDW Ongoing thread in the Trek Literature forum is a good place to ask these kind of questions http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=194800&page=71
^ Perhaps Q did that on purpose, as a joke? Meaning, he changed the environment around himself and Picard so that it would look that way. Seems in character for Q...
^More likely it's an error by IDW. There have been a lot of those throughout the ongoing series. I note that #36 apparently has Keiko O'Brien in the ending. And #37 will most likely have Worf. So there's some TNG parts of the (possible future of the) Abramsverse for you.
