"Yorktown: A Time to Heal" - Official thread for the Sulu fan film!

Shuttlecraft approaching the USS Yorktown. Seems friendly enough.

That's one of the best renderings of the Constitution-class I've ever seen. I still can't believe that the fans can make it looks so much better than CBS did with TOS-R.

Are we going to be able to just watch the original footage somewhere? I really don't care about the new material added thirty years after the fact.

Bill, you wouldn't have a complete story if we did that. There were important scenes missing that were suppose to be filmed, like the Yorktown bridge scenes. The reason Yorktown was never released in the past was because it wasn't finished. The new scenes are what the Producer of Yorktown always intended to have in the finished film.

Thank for posting the update.
This will be a very special fan film, because it took you all a very long time to (almost) complete it.
Once released it will have new elements, like you have described, but it will also be a kind of nostalgia. People who where much younger than, than they are now. Very special indeed.

Has George Takei commented about the film's existence (that it was still being made), or imminent release at all?

He hasn't spoken about it online, as far as I know, but he did talk to the guys at Starbase Studios about it when he was in Oklahoma, just 3 weeks after we had filmed there. So he is at least aware of the fact that its being finished.
