I never heard of *THAT*! It is always said that he will play Spock. He said so himself, I think. If memory serves well, this was said on TrekMovie.com ...

    EDIT: Here it is ...

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned that any of the old crew would be cameo, which is to say not there original characters

Frankly, having Nimoy playing a Vulcan other than Spock would be a dumb idea.

There was a rumour at one point he was going to be Sarek.

But that was months ago. Before Zach Quinto was confirmed, even... and Sarek's been cast in the interim. ;)

I was just asking a question, I hadn't seen the article where they publisized the fact that nimoy is going to be spock. Hence why I was asking in the first place.

Now that I know this, I can better reply to the time travel idea.

All I can say is I sincerely hope not. Unless the have an extreamly good writer, time travel is hard enough for them in the episodes, let alone the big screen.

I dont know it worked pretty good in Voyage Home and First Contact-

I could buy into the slingshot method, esp. since its been done before to good effect, and it has cool visuals perfect for the big screen.

If they do the slingshot, will we get a weird cracked-out giant head sequence like we did in TVH?

Because otherwise I just don't think it'll work.

The logical approach would be for Spock to hijack the Orb Of Time. Most movie going folk will know about the orbs, won't they?

I'm pretty sure the Guardian was exaggerating anyway. I mean, forever is a long fucking time.

I'm hoping for an Ikonian Gateway. After years of Stargate pablum, the audience would eat up the premise behind those suckers.

But I think the gateway works more like a wormhole, in order to span great distances in space, but not for time travel.
