I'd rather she not be connected to anything from a prior series like the Columbia from ENT (enough with the small-universe stuff in Trek) and also not be a love interest for Kirk.That's probably the best option. Maybe the Colombia in an off-hand homage to ENT.
I was just thinking that she and Kirk could be dating at the start of the film. (If you wanted to small-universe it, make her Paris's younger sister, who set them up.) The film opens similar to STB, where they're trying to escape some kind of pickle together and she has to save his ass. Then she does again at the end of the film in a TUC style battle.
I don't know why, but I kind of like the idea of him being put in his place by an older, more experienced captain. Besides, I think it's about time to see a masculine male lead dating someone older.
It's just one of those silly Hollywood perception things that really annoys me. I think they're only like eight-or-something years apart. But, normally, the idea of a guy in his 30s dating a woman in her 40s would bedespite the fact, if their ages were reversed, no one would think twice about it.
Because some day The Omega Directive has to be remade, it's too much of a masterpiece not to be. And Cloud William is a character who deserves only the most talented actors/actresses.
So, what, does he charge the innocent Ferengi a fee after he saves them from thugs in an alley? For that matter, does he request financial compensation from the mayor of Ferengi Gotham after he saves them from the Ferengi Joker?
Actually, can you imagine a 1960s take on Ferengi Batman starring Ferengi actors Awest and Bward? Hearing the 60s Batman theme as they fight masked Ferengi goons who are armed with energy whips.

You're right, the comics have introduced Harry Mudd's for some reason Bajoran daughter. But it's going to be a tough sell casting Kate Beckinsale as Harry Mudd's daughter given Kate is currently nine years older than Roger Carmel was in Mudd's Women.
Harry Mudd's daughter not only has a mother, but that mother has millions of android duplicates.
