I've never trusted Klingons and I never will. I can never forgive them for the death of my boy.

If I were human, I believe my response would be, "Go to Hell".

    If I were human. :rommie:

How, how on earth did Walt know about that Ashton Kutcher movie way back then?

    (Oddly enough, starring Zoe Saldana.)

lol...I'm really showing my age now.

The original movie "Guess who's coming to Dinner" was made back in 1967.

Ashton Kutcher is not a time traveller. Not that I know of...

I'm watching New Years Eve right this second, and I'm thinking what a cad this Kelso bloke is for defiling a tiny wee child like Lea Michele. but then Bon fucking Jovi has to be twice as old as Kathrine Hiegl.

    So many cads.

Cad, is the word for the day.

    "Butterfly Effect".

    Yadda, yadda, blah, blah.

I think I was more so suggesting that Nicholas Meyer was the Time Traveller when he was writing the undiscovered country, but it's bad form to explain the construction of ones joke.

    "Sigh"

Always the past, how about ending up in the far future after the Federation has fallen.

That would be my choice. We got teased with the far future in ENT, would love to see more of it. If I could travel in time it would be to the future.

the future would have been easy.

They could have armoured, shielded up Voyager and plotted a course that intercepted with nothing whatsoever, put the crew in stasis and just push the ship towards home at relativistic speed through normal space with just momentum to carry them on.

Just going above the plane of the galaxy would have solved a lot of their problems, since it isn't really all that thick.

The galaxy at it's thickest is only one thousand light years, and that's right at the centre.

You're just not thinking three dimensionally enough.

I recall another superhuman who had asimilar problem.

Not around, straight over, low warp to conserve resources, put folks in the freezers, with a skeleton crew to maintain the ship. The crew can rotate being in the freezers, and descend into the galaxy when vital resources are needed. Not much adventure, no need to go into the galactic barrier, just sail the calm.

    I reread the question.

'Thought I'd edited my response quickly without anyone being the wiser.

I'm getting slower in my old age.

following the analogy I've obliterated from the public record, it would be like walking on the pie's crust.

But you're going to quickly get into that we need a Medusan if they go off the plane...

And if they go off the plane, wouldn't that mean that suddenly untethered from the galaxy, the the galaxy would run away from them? like when you jump off a train or go swimming without dropping anchor.

I seriously use the edit function like 12 times before I'm happy with my posts.

I have no idea how close the barrier gets to the main population of galactic stars, but TOS would seem to indicate that there is ample room for navigation since Voyager isn't going to be going for the full on out of the galaxy trip. They'd also want to be able to scan for resources, so I imagine keeping close enough to do so. I don't see how the galaxy would run off without them, just because they are traveling above the main body of stars.

A dull trip, folks looking forward to 20 or 30 years of aging thanks to the stasis units, assuming things go to plan. Not much to report to Star Fleet on, but no need to fight with every Tom, Dick, and Borg on the way back.

geometric shapes are easier to regulate if power consumptions is not an issue, but then the only way to power something as huge as the barrier for billions of years is to use the spin of the galaxy itself as a power source.

I'm thinking that you still have to go up 50 thousand light years from the plane is the barrier is a sphere and not clingwrap.

Although, the barrier's edge might be considerably closer than that if we assume that this is how Kirks Enterprise tried to leave the galaxy all the times it tried to leave the galaxy... Although, they'd have to head out of an edge if they were planning on making their way to Andromeda.

Besides, if staying within the main stars makes such a course is necessary for supplies, it might be a better option when trying to try crossing Borg territory than sneaking through the middle and hoping you don't get noticed.

That was me, but no worries. I don't mind spoilers.

Yup, I'm American, though I pretend to be Canadian when traveling.

And Blake's 7 looks like something I could get into. I watched a few clips on youtube and the 70s styling isn't too bad. It's no worse than TOS really. Found this compilation of Blake's 7 insults:

Let me know how it makes you feel, or start a thread in the scifi forum when you start to get invested.

    remember.

The first few episodes of any series are really shitty.

    So persevere.
