I never got the impression from Iron Man that SHIELD was a brand-new agency. The only evidence of that was Coulson saying "we're working on it" when Pepper said their name was a mouthful. To me, that only suggested that they'd changed the acronym, not that the agency was new. Although it has since been established by The Winter Soldier that the current full name was in use decades ago. So maybe "we're working on it" just meant they were thinking about changing the name. Or maybe it was just Coulson being Coulson.

Maybe Coulson meant they'd recently hired an ad agency to rebrand them?

I'd never seen the short film, so I just watched it. Whitford is unrecognizable these days. The guy looks exactly the same for 20 years and then ages 30 in five minutes.

I hope we see more Neal "Poolside" McDonough poolside in the show.

    Really, I was only half-joking.

I don't mind admitting I'm quite excited about this show. It's been a seemingly forever wait to get to this point, but I'm certain it will have been worth it!

In the lap of squalor I assure you.
It could still be pre-empted for the big game.

You know how important sport is. :D

Is it sad that I literally have the same oven as Agent Carter?

I'll also say that, by weird coincidence, I was reading transcripts of the House Un-American Activities Committee and people being asked about their Communist affiliation responded in a very similar manner to Howard Stark right there.

    Act I:

GREAT intro sequence--flashbacks of the first Cap movie with Peggy dressing up like a boss...

Good establishment of the scenario--the G.I. getting the jobs the women had during the war...and Stark playing up the Howard Hughes parallels, re: the Congressional hearings.

Bet the British fellow is Jarvis. Hope Stark's tires are bulletproof....

Guess they are bulletproof, and the fellow IS Jarvis.

Great sequence in the lounge--Peggy makes for a great femme fatale.

    AND..."Crikey" indeed!

I was beginning to wonder if Colleen was supposed to turn out to be important in the story...guess not.

Can't wait to figure out what the orange thing truly is. A prelude to the arc reactor, perhaps?

Great moment with Carter and Jarvis--especially the tissue.

Hmm....the orange thing has a connection to Cap.

Daniel Sousa...lots of build-up with him. From the comics?

VERY interesting...the obvious suspect is HYDRA, but is it?

    Interesting gun Peggy has.

The "real" Jarvis is quite a dapper fellow, really.

And yet..."I don't think she'll have any suspicions at all."

    Act VI:

And, we have the "Betty Carter" gag! Now I'm wondering if the waitress is important besides as a friend.

Oh, come on, Jarvis, you do NOT say "What's the worst that could happen?"

Guess the misogynist was more than just a way for Peggy to have a "You go girl" moment.

    Clever! "Tact" indeed, Peggy!

    SO...is "Leviathan" from the comics?

Starting to wonder if they're not overusing the "flashback" thing a bit. We KNOW she was the blonde.

And I'm going to go out on a limb and say the cliffhanger for this break is "false tension"--it won't be a picture of her, or they'll be interrupted.

    AND...interruption. Figures.

I can't say I care for "Most of SSR are idiots so Peggy can look good". I hope they're not buying Roxxon's story at face value.

Good, they're not. And they're bringing Peggy on a "real" assignment.

Okay. Why do they always run? Why do they ALWAYS run? That always incriminates, and it invariably never results in an escape, right?

    Act VIII:

And now we love Peggy's boss. Sexist or not, he's awesome as an investigator/interrogator. I love the carrot and the stick!

    MORE build-up about Angie.

AND...the suspect to be questioned is dead. Why are they always dead--that ceased being an original twist a LONG time ago!
