Maybe. But, rather than a Red type character, I wish they'd had a more desk oriented character. Early in the first season, Janeway struck me as someone graced by family and connection for promotion without a lot of experience on the frontier, quite the opposite of Chakotay. It would have been more satisfying to see the two clashing and finding common ground in their respective command views in facing the Delta Quadrant rather than Janeway is always right which we more or less got.
