But again, you're making the unexamined assumption that they do, in fact, already have something planned, and my point is that they may not. As I said, it isn't that the management hasn't asked -- it's that the producers themselves haven't decided yet, that the script hasn't been written yet, that perhaps Smith hasn't chosen yet one way or the other. It's not about management failing to ask the question, it's about the answer not existing yet.
I don't know where you've worked and in what capacity, but it's been my observation that in the working world, when the boss says "give me an outline of what you intend to do", the correct answer is "yes, I'll do it right now", and certainly not "oh I haven't thought about it yet, I really have no idea".
^No, no, you're not getting it. It's not that they haven't thought about it, but maybe they haven't made a final decision yet. There are lots of reasons why they wouldn't be certain yet what's going to happen at the end of the year. They may still be weighing their options. They may just be too busy with finishing the current season. There's a huge, huge difference between not having a decision and not even having thought about it yet. Go back to what I asked before. Have you honestly never in your entire life had a decision coming up in the midrange future that you needed time to figure out? Like, say, which college to attend after high school, or whether you could afford to move to a new apartment when your current lease expired? Really, this isn't that hard to understand.
Is Clara absolutely 100% confirmed for Series 8? I've been busy re-reading the Dune series and fighting the snow so am kinda behind.
The Christmas script has actually been written and will start filming after the 50th special (Which starts filming next week) has been finished. The special will link into the christmas edition. Also, a lot of familiar faces have now been signed to appear in the 50th. Strong rumor of the next doctor is that sean pertwee may get the job, which will be interesting.
DrWho website now has a prequel thethe bells of saint john, its interesting viewing and could hold a few clues lol http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006q2x0
Sean Pertwee as the Doctor would be interesting. I've no doubt that he could do it and do it quite well, bur he wouldn't be likely near the top of anyone's list; he's simply not that visible. Which, come to think of it, may be a point in his favor; Tennant and Smith weren't near the top of the public's list in 2005 and 2009 respectively.
I just don't want another young, quirky, flirty Doctor. It's really tired now. Matt Smith is a LOT more Doctor-ish than Tennant and I like him, but an older actor is needed.
I'm not sure 11 is really a flirty Doctor, he always seems quite uncomfortable in any kind of intimate situation other than with River, and even that seemed to take a while. He certainly doesn't have that "Hello girls," cockiness that Tennant had. I think the next Doctor needs to be the right person at the right time for the job. Smith certainly wasn't my idea of who the next Doctor should be but he had me from "Do you have an apple?" (actually I think he kinda had me from his first interview when I decided he was a more than a little eccentric) So frankly I'll judge whoever the next Doctor is on their own merits, and if they choose a 25 year old south Asian woman who's as naturally the Doctor as Smith then better that to a 40 something white bloke who feels forced in the role. That said I'm 99% sure the next Doctor will be both male, and older than Smith, in fact I think he'll be older than Smith is when he leaves rather than when he started. Mid thirties at least.
For what it's worth, "The Doctor's Wife" did canonically establish that a Time Lord can regenerate into the opposite sex (the Doctor mentioned that the Corsair had done so at least once).
Oh yeah, and even before then if you presume every molecule of his body can alter (and even going back to Destiny of the Daleks its implied a Timelord doesn;t even need to be human looking) then surely nothing is off the table as it were. That said I hope the Doctor stays male, though like I say if it's the right person for the job I can probably be pursueded.
The tenth Doctor is really the only one that can be described as "young, quirky and flirty". Really? What makes you think that? I've never seen her in anything that left me with the impression that she had an interesting personality, an impressive acting range or beyond average charisma. In my opinion, she has none of the qualities one would wish to find in an actor who plays the Doctor.
I just want an end to the companion fancying The Doctor. Rose, Martha, Amy and now Clara have done so. Give us a real ugly Doctor. Hell, cast me! Huh!? Emma Thompson maybe.
You'd not be able to do any of the running scenes without getting out of breath, wanting to take a cig break, and then end up marathoning the complete works of Alfred Hitchcock for the 88th time.
I'd get to kiss Jenna Louise Coleman though . Although knowing my luck, it'd be the year they bring back Catherine Tate .
