I seriously doubt that, but thanks for the vote of confidence. Well, the movie or gaming industry is on my agenda, but I've got a ways to go yet.
You're kidding right? There is a joke in there somewhere because everything I have seen so far is stellar (pardon the pun).
When I can do 8 or 10 groups of illustrations like the one above per day and finish the entire book cover image in 2 or 3 days, then I might have a shot at the big time. I love the fact that people enjoy my work, but I am also realistic about the fact that the professional world of design and illustration has some pretty high standards and some very tight deadlines. Sure, I've got a whole other full-time job to keep me busy, but I still know I need to greatly improve in both categories. To that end, I'm actually going to start doing some "sketch of the day" exercises, possibly even start participating in the SOTD forums on CGTalk.com and elsewhere. You don't improve without practice, so I'm gonna start trying to get as much of it in as possible on as much diverse subject matter as I can. I'm confident I'll get there eventually.
I could stare at those Sphinxes all day! Personally, I've found an odd outlet for a "sketch of the day". When I make sandwiches for my kids' lunches, I draw a quick 2 minute Sharpie sketch on each of their zip-lock baggies. Gets me a little practice, and the kids seem to enjoy it! The hardest part is thinking up something unique to draw each day.
Pretty much done with these. Just need to add them to the main illustration. Edit - Oops. Forgot to mask them out against the black background. I'll fix it later. Edit 2 - Fixed.
Very impressive. I'm excited to see these in place with the 3D elements. You know, I get all of these threads mixed up sometimes. For some reason I thought you were putting the Sphinx into Polaris! Whew!
Dammit. I thought there might have been an update. I hate it when people other than Vektor bump this thread!
I knew I would irk a few people but I feel the need for some awesomness and thought I'd just knock on the door to see what's going on. Sorry guys!
