JK...that setup looks really nice and cool. I've never had any invisible bookshelves.

I like the print hanging on your wall, by the way.

Yeah, I love that print. Here's a better picture of it, as my phone no longer seems able to take clear pictures:

It's George Barbier, whose art I've always admired. His art epitomizes the aesthetic of the 1920s, with the use of art deco streamlining, Asian, East Asian, and Middle Eastern inspiration, and eclectic patterns. I have these two prints by him in my bedroom as well: I wanted my room to be more feminine, as in the past it's always been rather plain of decor.

And as an homage to the inspiration he's given me, I used the print from the latter illustration in one of my own pieces:

Agreed, those are brilliant photos. Thanks for the link. :) I love that they're photos of everyday people, and that the photos aren't posed. How I wish the photos could be in colour, though. Those hats in particular were probably quite eye-catching.

That piece you created yourself with the abstract looking hummingbird flitting over the woman's hand...I really like that. Pretty impressive, tsq. You're remarkably talented.

Oh wow. Everyone here is so talented. I'm like Macloudt (I think it was her) and cannot even draw a proper stick man. The book "Drawing on the Right side of the Brain" has been mocking me from my bookshelf for a very long time. Perhaps it is time for me to accept the challenge...

Anyway, well done all of you who draw, paint, cross stitch, take amazing photos, make jewelry, etc.

Wow, this is a talented group of people!

Took my older son Ian to see the live arena show of How To Train Your Dragon. It's done by the same people who did the Dinosaur show. It was really great, How To Train Your Dragon is his favorite movie right now. Here are a few pics from the show.

In 12 years here, I don't believe I've ever posted a 'recent' pic of myself. However, in the last year I have lost 15% of my body weight, and had some cosmetic work done on my teeth. So I got my uncle to take a few pics of me this afternoon in the garden, and here goes.

I look a bit weary, but that's because I'm currently adjusting to some odd meds which are supposed to be sedative, so I'm more tired than usual.

Please be gentle with me!

Doesn't she? I would have said so but I didn't fancy a clip round the ear. :p

:) Love your pics! why do you say you have to improve? You must be kidding!
Thanks! Well, it's only an 8Mp camera with fixed lens. I have taken some nice macro shots with it (extreme close-ups of nature), but a DSLR would achieve better results.

Here's a few I've taken of insects/bugs:

Super cool, Gary.

The dragonfly is my favorite of the three. I like the expression on the spider...as if it's saying "Who the hell are you...and you're not going to smash me with that thing you're holding, are you?"

:p

She has a knack for turning people into newts.

I know. I've seen it.

And as an homage to the inspiration he's given me, I used the print from the latter illustration in one of my own pieces:

Hannah's homage is heavenly.

I actually like yours better. I think it's more intimate, and there's a greater sense of warmth shared between the woman and the bird.

Gary, your photography is absolutely stunning.

You have it backward. I have a habit of turning newts into people. Sexy green people who help around the house.

Thank you. It is part of a series I did with that theme a few months ago:
