Any Buffy fans who're also Space Buffs might be interested to know that Nicholas "Xander" Brendon and his twin brother, Kelly Donovan, were born 40 years ago today.

    So...
April 12, 1961: Yuri Gagarin becomes first human in space.
    April 12, 1971: Nick & Kelly born.
April 12, 1981: First launch of Space Shuttle Columbia.

Hope those two appreciate what a cool birthdate they have!

How can they be twins if they have different surnames?

I always thought he was too old to play a high schooler (I was shocked when I discovered the guy was 26 in season 1 of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), but he sure nailed the part. A friend of mine was really dismayed by how old he started looking towards the end of the series, though.

It's so fortunate that Nicholas Brendon has a twin brother, as this made it possible for "The Replacement", my second favourite episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", to exist in the amazing form that it does. Deckerd, I think Kelly just uses a different name to differentiate himself more from his brother. Probably just doesn't want to be in his brother's shadow too much and all that jazz.

Their last name is actually Schultz. They use their middle names instead in their stage names.

Well, yeah, I know that it happens. It's just shocking to because I just discovered Buffy a couple years ago, so in my eyes he should be closer to the age he was when he made the show.

I guess I forgot how long Buffy has actually been off the air.
