YouTube Question

So, I'm on my desktop and I've been encountering some problems the last couple of days that I'm not quite understanding.

So, say I'm watching a YT video on a website (not YouTube) and click on the little YT logo to take me to the full-site so I can watch the video there. (Usually the in-line video is smaller than the expanded YT page version.)

I'm brought to the video's YT page but it seems to be a mobile/tablet version of the page as it's very narrow, doesn't contain the comments, and has an even smaller viewer. The "footprint" of the page seems suggestive of it being designed for a mobile version of the site (either for phones or tablets.)

The URL for the video seems fine, doesn't have any differences in it from the "full" version of the page suggesting it's a mobile version and refreshing the page brings up the desktop version of the site.

Any ideas on what could be going on here? I've looked in settings in YT and in my browser and cannot seem to find something that suggests that this is a mis-activated setting.

I've heard of something similar, that person's issue was that a setting on their computer was switched to tablet for some reason. I am not sure what settings specifically sorry.
