your top ten favorite TV characters (currently running series)

Lee Adama (Battlestar Galactica)
William Adama (Battlestar Galactica)
Dr. Neela Rasgotra (ER)
Dr. Gregory House (House M.D.)
Dr. 'Thirteen' (House M.D.)
Robert Goren (Law & Order: Criminal Intent)
Denny Crane (Boston Legal)
Sean Spencer (Psych)
Lex Luthor (Smallville)
Lana Lang (Smallville)

1- Lex Luthor (Smallville) - Best written character on tv right now. A well written bad guy makes all the difference in the world for a show.

2- Barney (How I Met Your Mother) - steals the spotlight every single episode.

3- Gaius Balter (Battlestar Galactica) - He plays thye weasel so well it's a joy to watch.

4- Dr Gregory House (House) - makes being an asshole fun to watch.

5- Alan Shore and Denny Crane (Boston Legal) - They come as a package deal as, while each is great on their own, their friendship bond make sit even more powerful.

6- Dr. Rodney McKay (Stargate Atlantis) - The brilliant coward who ultimately comes through for you in the clutch.

7- Sheldon Cooper (Big Bang Theory) - Another character on a CBS sitcom that steals the shows potlight every epiode.

8- Eli Stone (Eli Stone) - The most human character on tv right now. Portraying his plight with perfection.

9- Charlie Epps (Numbers) math genius helps his FBI agent brother. Played and written quite well.

10- The Walker Family (Brothers and Sisters) - Gotta list the entire family because the family blowups are PRICELESS to watch. Some greta individual characters but when the family quabbles as a whole or a few at a time that show shines like no toehr show on tv.

Honorable Mentions: Lionel Luthor, Dexter Morgan, The Doctor, Cpt. Jack Harkness, Sock, Saul Tigh, Chuck Bass, Blair Waldorff, Lana Lang and Nick Garrett.

Here are my faves:

Jack Bauer, 24 - hoping for a big comeback on this one next year

Charlie Harper, 2 1/2 Men - one of my favorite sitcom lead characters

Shawn Spencer, Psych - it is either the actor or the writing, but I can relate totally to this character... all about obscure 80s references

Jonas Blaine, The Unit - liked him as prez, liked him as Cerrano, like him as a delta forces soldier

Sawyer, Lost - nicknameosaurus rules!

John Locke, Lost - that wheelchair reveal episode was an all-time great moment for a TV character, IMHO

Sayid Jerah, Lost - ok, probably better move on now...

Adrian Monk, Monk - never gets old when he is in full panic mode

Bill Adama, Battlestar Galactica - I am a big fan of the old man

Saul Tigh, Battlestar Galactica - the ol' warhorse's right hand man - speaking of great moments, the exile on New Caprica, losing his eye, killing his traitorous wife, and fighting a no-holds-barred resistance war was enlightening, thought provoking, and powerful

Ack! I don't watch that many television series, but what I do watch I'm devoted to, so here's the list. It's pretty solid since there aren't many characters to choose from. I like what I like, and I don't like much else.

Big Love rocks. When Lois told Frank she'd let him in the back door when she was trying to get the money back that he stole, I spit out my coffee from laughing.:guffaw: Of course nothing beat Frank peeing in the sink and her nonchalant response while everyone else was horrified, "Are you still doing that? You are such a pig." :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

The Doctor - Doctor Who
Dr. Baltar - BSG

Drs. House and Wilson, House
Detectives Benson and Stabler, Law and Order: SVU

Those are the only shows I really watch...

1. Eric Cartman, South Park.
South Park has frequently been a spot on allegory for the insanity of American culture. Within that brilliance, Cartman is the raging id, a soulless creature who cares only about satisfying his own appetites. How petty is he? He arranged a dastardly scheme to have Scott Tenorman's parents killed over a matter of $16.12. He may not be the most savage killer out there but no one else has ever killed for so slight an offense (except for the I-didn't-like-the-way-he-looked-at-me killers).

2. Gaius Baltar, Battlestar Galactica
I no longer really care if humanity lives or dies but I'm fascinated by this weasel who has survived for so long against such long odds. And it may be sick but I think I relate to this guy more than to any other TV character right now. He knows he's smarter than everyone else but he also knows that no one else will ever acknowledge it.

(Gotta go now. More to come later.)

Hmmm... I listed Tigh and Six as my favorite BSG characters, and now they're shipping. I don't know what to feel about that.
