Your Final "New" (to You) Episodes?

Frontier

We've all been there. We've seen almost every single episode of a given series, whether TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY, or ENT. But there is still one or two we missed. Somehow, some way. For a lot of us, this was because of the nature of the beast of reruns on television in the pre-DVD, pre-binge watching days. Now days new fans will never experience what it was to have spent years catching up on reruns like we had to!

So what was your final "new" episode (to you, anyway) of a given series?

I've no memory of what my last new (to me) TOS episode was, and TAS I only ever saw once it was out on DVD. But I remember for TNG, my last two episodes were "Lessons" and "Aquiel" - I know, such epic episodes to end on, right?! LOL. For DS9, years after I watched "What We Leave Behind" as it aired in June of 1999, I finally saw "Crossfire" from season 4 from 4-am daily reruns. For Voyager, it was season 1's "Cathexis" that was the last episode I'd missed from watching all of Voyager from season 4 onward. Enterprise, I saw all of as it aired so no missing links there.

What about you?

It was either DS-9's "Time's Orphan" or VOY's "Message in a Bottle."

I don't know how I missed the DS-9 episode. Since it was in syndication and my parents had a full earth-station satellite dish, I'd go over to their house every Saturday and watch the transmission Paramount sent to the various stations. Somehow I missed this one for a long while. I can't remember when I finally saw the episode.

With the Voyager episode I was the victim of circumstances. The UPN network switched TV stations in the market I lived in. For one week we were without UPN. A friend from an old Voyager fan board I was a member of mailed me a VHS copy of the episode.

There are possibly still a few TOS episodes from Season 3 I haven't seen. I saw one a while ago and it didn't ring any bells at all. It's possible I've seen all the episodes at least once but just forgot about a few of them either because they were terrible or uninteresting.

I somehow missed the TNG episode "Menage A Troi" when it first aired. I was shocked when it aired on Sky 1 one evening in the 90's when they re-ran the whole series. I'd assumed Wesley just started wearing an official uniform at some point and didn't realise he'd been given a field commision. I love the Ferengi and Lwaxana Troi so this episode was a treat and the final scene was worthy of a "last episode ever".

I saw all of DS9 from Season 2 onwards while the show was still airing. I rewatched Season 1 while Season 3 was airing.

I watched Voyager from the start but I skipped a few episodes in its last couple of seasons. Namely the ones about the holographic Irish village. I actually walked out of the room when I realised they'd done a second episode about that rubbish.

There are quite a few Enterprise episodes from the first 2 seasons I gave up on or skipped. I think I've seen most of Season 3 and 4.

DS9, Voyager and Enterprise it was all the finales as I pretty much saw them in order.

TNG it was 'High Ground'. I think it was left out of the syndication rotation for some reason. Don't know why as I don't live in Ireland.

TOS there are some season three episodes I still have not seen.

Interesting idea. Unfortunately, I don't remember what the last TOS episode was I caught for the first time. With most of those I watched either syndicated re-runs or borrowing VHS from the library. Although I didn't get around to watching any of TAS until it was released on DVD in 2006. For TNG it was Inheritance, which I kept missing every time it was on TV until summer 2003. DS9, I guess Armageddon Game, but even that I did catch the first half on TV years back but was interrupted by a phone call and missed the rest of it until 2006. For Voyager it's tricky, I never saw Lifesigns at all until 2004, though Virtuoso is another one I caught half of, missed the rest and didn't get to see it again until 2010, which I guess could make it my last new episode for all of Trek. As for Enterprise, my last episode there really was TATV, which I saw when it first aired.

I have no idea for TOS. When I was old enough to register what I was watching, I only had access to them on AFN (Armed Forces Network) when my parents were stationed in Germany. And then they were all out of order.

For TNG, I'm pretty sure I caught them all the same week they aired, as I remember being nerdy enough to set my VCR to record them each week just in case I missed one. So that's right out.

I never got into DS9 all that much and gave up after the second season. While I've since seen most of the episodes, I can't say for certain if I've seen them all. But the last one I saw was actually the finale, as I was watching them online in order.

Voyager, same story. Except I never got around to watching them online, but I have caught most of them seemingly at random times. The last "new" one I saw was actually the one with Q's son. Which, incidentally, hasn't really made me wanna hunt down any other episodes.

For Enterprise, I saw the first season as they aired. I saw most (and possibly all) of the second one, but I gave up after that season's finale. After it became available online, I decided to check out the fourth season after hearing good things, and watched that all the way through, which lead me to go give the first three another chance. Still ended up not carrying for it, but I skipped ahead to the third season and caught a few of those at random. The last one I watched was the season finale of the third season, and I couldn't even begin to tell you what it was called or even what it was about unless I looked it up. That's about how much of an impact it's had on me.

I've still not seen DEEP SPACE NINE's "Profit And Lace" - and I don't want to. All other episodes of all series have been viewed (not counting any of these fan-made shows).

Ferengi episodes were barely tolerable under good circumstances, but Quark in drag? I don't think I want to go there...

"These Are The Voyages".

It was very easy not to miss an episode, either because of DVR's or VHS Recorders.

There are several TOS episodes I've never seen, including "Turnabout Intruder". There are a few others that I've watched, but it's been so long that I couldn't say what happens in them. I have the DVD sets, but I'm saving those eps for a special occasion.

I believe I've seen all the Trek episodes there are, except I have never watched the animated series, not even one episode... So I guess a TAS episode might become "the final new one", other than that, I can't remember. MAYBE the last episode of TOS, maybe.

There are a few episodes of DS9 and Enterprise I haven't seen. More so with Enterprise. Perhaps one of the Enterprise ones is the first new to me.

When Voyager first started airing, we got a station that carried UPN. Then our cable company dropped that station. So there were a lot episodes from season 3-6 I think that I didn't get to see until they started showing them in syndicated re-runs. By the time season 7 was on we were getting a station that had both re-runs and first runs.

I remember I asked my aunt who lived in another state who still got UPN to tape them for me. Well that was kind of hit and miss. She would tape them and then pause them during commercials so they would be commercial free. If she forgot to un-pause it because she went to the bathroom or something, well I ended up with half an episode. I asked her to just let them tape straight through. I'd rather fast forward through the commercials then miss part of the story. I didn't ask for all of them taped because she couldn't afford the shipping and neither could I. Just certain ones or try to get as many on the tape as possible and bring it when she came to visit.

I may not get to watch the new series when it comes out. Didn't someone say it would only be available on CBS All Access?

The only significant one I can remember is DS9's "The Way of the Warrior". I was visiting the future in-laws, and couldn't watch it. I finally got around to seeing it ~15 years later on Netflix. I was kinda annoyed at missing such a significant episode the first time around!

It's still new to me, but Sub Rosa is mine. I don't remember watching it during the orignial run and the last time I watched through TNG, I just remember it being so boring for the first 15 minutes I just skipped it.

The final new episode of TOS to me was "The Alternative Factor." For years I always ended up missing it in reruns.

"Space Seed" and "The Cloud Minders" were very near the last as well. I knew the former introduced Khan's people, but when the pre-credit sequence of "The Cloud Minders" came on, I saw the cave dweller/miner people in their eye masks/head wraps and thought, "Hey, they look like Khan's people from Ceti Alpha V! This has to be 'Space Seed!'"

I still don't think I've seen that DS9 episode in its entirety where there's a fake O'Brien but he doesn't know he's a fake.

My last TOS episode may have been "The Lights of Zetar" maybe?

Last TNG was "The Hunted." A friend of mine was describing his favorite episode (which was "The Hunted") and I had never seen it. It was the only one I had somehow missed. I finally saw it some time later when I got Season 3 on DVD.

When Netflix started to carry DS9, I finally watched the last season of DS9 and it was pretty good.

I don't care enough about Voyager enough to know which episodes I've missed, but I suppose that the last episode I have seen was whichever was the last episode of Enterprise I watched on Netflix. Trying to wade through that series and it's been tough. I guess I'm most of the way through season 3? Been months since I watched it and I kind of forgot.

But yeah, "The Hunted" was my last really memorable new episode. I actually really enjoyed that show.

I still haven't ever watched any of Enterprise season 3 beyond the first episode, so there are 23 episodes I've never seen.

I have watched season four, so the last "new to me" episode was TAtV. Sigh.

TNG it was 'High Ground'. I think it was left out of the syndication rotation for some reason. Don't know why as I don't live in Ireland
It was banned from the BBC for a long time so it was left out of British broadcasts for years. It may still be. I've only seen that one on DVD at any rate.

For years I'd never seen Schizoid Man or Night Terrors from TNG, Crossfire from DS9 and Think Tank from Voyager - I must have been on holiday when they were screened and couldn't set the video recorder properly. There were also a few Voyager episodes I'd never seen the end of, like the one with The Rock and the Irish holodeck episodes - they were just unwatchable.

I've seen all of TNG and DS9 on DVD now, but there are still those Voyager episodes and the majority of Enterprise. Plus some of TAS I think.

I'm not really consciously keeping hold of them to have some 'new' Trek to see, but I am looking forward to getting TAS on blu-ray.
