Your Favourite Beer?

The Great Meech

A simple enough question--what is your favourite brand of beer?

Mine would probably be the coffee porter from Mill Street brewery in Toronto. A mixture of two drugs you chug into one drink is brilliance. Incidentally, I've also met Mill Street's brewmaster a couple of times, and he's a fantastically nice guy. Mill Street=the shit.

I'm also a fan of Creemore Springs lager and Steam Whistle Pilsner, even though the more I drink of the latter, the more I only want to like it.

At the moment I have stocked my cupboard with Eden Ale amd Doom Bar. I gather the latter is doing rather well in 'best beer' polls. I happen to like it and it supports the local economy.

At the supermarket I usually buy Tyskie or Zweic, both Polish. Sometimes I buy Cobra as well, which is Indian.

When I was last in Canada I discovered a very nice Brewery called Granville Island, but I can't remember specifically which beers it was i liked best.

Duvel. Quite a kick to it, like a lot of Belgian beers.

I'm not a fan of beers generally, but if I'm going to do a beer, that's the one.

Of the ones I've had I have to say Rochefort Trappiste 10 or St. Bernardus Abt 12 are the best and my favorites as well.

I haven't seen any store carry Rochefort Trappiste 10 here so I've only drank those in bars. I could buy the St. Bernardus 12 from a local Whole Food store. They are usually packaged in 750 ml wine bottles.

Has anyone on this board ever even tried a pint of CAFFREYS?

Clearly not, because anyone who has had the taste of Caffreys cross their lips would not be posting about any other beer.

I'm a big fan of Creemore Springs lager, as well.

I also enjoy various Mill Street brews from time to time, and I've recently gotten into Sam Adams, an astonishingly good American lager. When it comes to more mainstream beers, my favourite has to be Rickart's White, which is a witbeer. Not a true one, but it's still pretty delicious.
