Hi to all!
Here is your thread where you can write the name of 5 reality shows that you like most.So this way we can have list of all great reality shows and can try it out some new reality shows..
Mine are here...
The Amazing Race
American Idol
Survivor
Dancing with the Stars
Big Brother.

I hate "competition-style" reality shows and talent contest shows and avoid them like the plague.

I also am not a fan of "confessional" type shows where the cameras show stuff happening and then a participant rants into the camera about their roommate or someone.

The ones I enjoy watching are:

Deadliest Catch: I thought following the lives of crab fishermen in Alaska would be dull viewing. I was wrong. I've decided not to watch this season, though, because it's too sad to view one of the main "stars" knowing he died before production of the latest season ended.

Gene Simmons Family Jewels: It might be debatable how much "reality" there is in this show (I've had my doubts), but as an improvised sitcom, it's great and better than the Osbournes, IMO.

Dirty Jobs: If they could build a movie around the Crocodile Hunter, they can get Mike Rowe to do a comedy film about some of the jobs he's had to undertake.

Mythbusters: Well this one goes without saying. I can watch this one over and over, and not just for Kari Byron.

Ice Road Truckers: Same as with Deadliest Catch, I thought a show about guys driving up and down lonely highways would be dull, but it isn't. I recently found out the show is produced by the same guy who produced the 1996 Doctor Who movie.

Murder in Small Town X: The exception to my hatred of competition-based reality shows. This was a short-lived Fox game from 2001 in which contestants were taken to a town in the US Northeast (Vermont, I think) which has been partially populated by improvisational actors, who enact a Twin Peaks-style mystery story as the contestants try to solve the mystery before they are "killed off" by the villain. I wish they'd put this on DVD but they won't because the winner was a New York City fireman who died on 9/11 -- one week after the finale of Small Town X aired.

Joe Schmo - And of course I can't forget one of the best parody series I've ever seen. I prefer the second season over the first.

It's still "The Apprentice." But the UK version is the funniest, what with that cheeky cockney gaffer "Siralan." :guffaw:

I pretty much don't miss:

Top Chef and Top Chef Masters--makes me hungry
Project Runway--though not all seasons are great
Little Couple--on hiatus?

I watch sometimes:

Say Yes to the Dress
Pawn Stars
American Pickers
America's Next Top Model
Holmes on Homes (Mike Holmes is hot)--HGTV
Sarah's House--HGTV
Little People, Big World

I have seen before but not so much now, if ever:

Gene Simmons (loved his onesies)
Survivor--gave up on
Amazing Race--gave up on
Big Brother--never again

I hate the competition shows, but I watch a few show occasionally, because I feel I might actually learn something from them, like Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, and Holmes on Homes.

I guess I see it as more educational, rather than the same "reality" drivel on other programs.

I usually watch:

American Idol
Top Chef
Project Runway
The Real Housewives of NYC, Atlanta, NJ (guilty pleasure)

I watch Holmes on Homes all the time, but I’ve never really considered it to be a Reality TV show. Or maybe it is just considered a different kind of reality TV. There is a lot of sensationalist reality TV trash out there, and HoH is good stuff.

Top Chef
Top Chef Masters
Tabitha's Salon Take Over ( I just enjoy watching people call her a bitch & then eat their words by the shows end because her tactics work.)

Any reality series with lesbians on it, like The 5th Wheel, Jerry Springer, & A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila.

Joe Schmo - And of course I can't forget one of the best parody series I've ever seen.

Agreed. In a similar vein, I liked the fake American Idol ripoff that the WB did a few years ago where they collected all the worst singers possible.

There's some other shows that might be considered "reality" shows but I think are probably something else. Rick Steves' Europe is the best of all the travel shows on PBS; way too classy to be a "reality" show.

I'm a big fan of obstacle course game shows, like American Gladiators, Dog Eat Dog, Wipeout, going all the way back to growing up with Double Dare. I would have liked Fear Factor had it not been for all of the gross eating challenges. And in the non-human category, I miss it when PBS used to air the British version of Robot Wars.

My favorites:

Survivor
Big Brother
Project Runway
Amazing Race
Biggest Loser

I don't really like the talent competition shows, I don't care to watch people sing or dance.

I'm not sure if these are considered "reality" shows, but since they aren't scripted, I guess I'll list my faves:

Antiques Roadshow
What Not to Wear
Intervention
Biggest Loser
Hoarders

But give me a good, well-written drama, and I'll watch that instead!

Ghost Hunters
Survivor
American Idol
Touch The Truck
The Amazing Race
KUWTK
Newlyweds
Blind Date
Real World
the kardashians

I think the only one i've ever seen a whole episode of is Ice Road Truckers, which I enjoyed. I'm planning on checking out Deadliest Catch for the same reason. Are they what is known as Reality TV though? What makes them more a reality show than something like say The Long Way round?

That they should fall into the same category as idiotic fluff like Big Brother seems rather silly to me, we need a new name for those sorts of shows, Docutainment Shows perhaps.

I could watch Deadliest Catch all day. It takes one of the most boring concepts in the world (a bunch of guys on boats grinding for crab) and turns it into one of the most exciting, addictive things on television.
