Your favorite movie/tv series soundtrack

The soundtrack of a TV series or a movie is often more interesting than the actual show. What is your favorite soundtrack? Or song for that matter?

My favorites:

Martin Boettcher: Karl May movies (from the 60ies): Surehand Melody, Winnetou, Der Schut
Riz Ortolani: Karl May, Django
The whole Django unchained soundtrack despite having not seen the movie
Karel Svoboda: Cinderella (Drei Haselnuesse fuer Aschenbroedel) and many other German/European soundtracks for TV series for children
Raumpatrouille Orion (Space Patrol Orion) Germen SciFi, music by Peter Thomas
Jerry Goldsmith: Star Trek, Air Force One
Elmer Bernstein: Magnificent Seven
Ennio Moricone: Ecstasy of Gold ......

Just to name a few.
 
I absolutely love the soundtrack for the Lynch version of Dune, as well as the Dune/Children of Dune miniseries.

Another favorite is the soundtrack for the 1982 Marco Polo miniseries.
 
I forgot to mention the Convoy soundtrack. In this case I´m more interested in the songs than in the actual movie.

And "Unknown Stuntmant", Lee Majors.

Despite the fact that I like Rock´n `Roll, I also like Vic Fontaine/James Darren and the Sinatra style songs like "Here´s to the losers", "Come fly with me" and "The Best is yet to come".
 
If we're using "soundtrack" in terms of songs, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" are my favorites.

When I'm organized, my soundtrack collection is broken down by genre: superhero music, sci-fi music, horror music, swashbuckling music, spy music, and even quiet, reflective music for when I'm writing low-key, character scenes.

Some of my staples:

Blink (a cool old thriller with Madeleine Stowe), The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, The Shadow, The Avengers (the 1960s spy series, not the Marvel heroes), The Time Machine (1960s version), Our Man Flint, The Last of the Mohicans (modern version), Conan the Barbarian, and Eve's Bayou.

The one catch: I can't listen to anything with lyrics when I'm writing. I don't need other words floating around in my head when I'm trying to come up with my own. I only listen to music with lyrics when I'm doing housework.

I also like a lot of the music from "Lost", though I also find a lot of it fairly generic.
 
For TV shows, I really like Corner Gas' Beginning and End themes. They're pretty much perfect as TV themes go.

I probably listen to soundtracks more than anything else these days, don't know why.

Favourites?

Many of John Williams's action-adventure and sci-fi scores: Stars Wars series, Indiana Jones series, Jaws, Superman, Jurassic Park and Hook.

Jerry Goldsmith: stand-outs include Star Trek the Motion Picture, Alien, the Derek Flint movies and Planet of the Apes.

Lalo Schifrin: Dirty Harry, Mission: Impossible, Bullitt.

The BBC Radiophonic Workshop's work on the original Doctor Who, which sounded like nothing else on Earth - Delia Derbyshire's arrangement of the theme music, and Brian Hodgson's atmospheres.

Albert Elms's incidental scores for Man in a Suitcase and The Prisoner.

Barry Gray's work for the APF/Century 21 shows, culminating in his masterpiece Space: 1999.
