What's your favorite or best-in-your-opinion episode from every season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine? Here's my personal list with some honorable mentions.

Season 7: "Image in the Sand"

A few remarks:
Of course the choice for some seasons is quite difficult. I also have to admit I did this by just giving the episode list a cursory glance, so I may have overlooked a truly great episode somewhere that otherwise would have been on this list.

I suppose my choices are fairly conventional, possibly with two exceptions.

The Siege of AR-558 may not be an uplifting, easy-viewing, or spectacular episode, but I think it portrays war somewhat realistically. That's why I chose it to be first place, despite some others having higher 'entertainment value'.

I suspect many people will have The Visitor as the S4 best. Whereas I don't think it's a bad episode, it strays way too heavily into exploitation of the viewer's emotion (and little else) to consider it a truly great story for my tastes, (to paraphrase it less friendly: I think it's 'emotion porn'). And while I don't consider Accession truly great either, it tackles some of the fundamental questions of the series, even though I admit some of its execution is clumsy at points.

While I enjoy the longer arc stuff, the episodes I tend to remember the best at a quick glance are the more stand-alone ones.

Ooh, DS9's much more difficult to choose from than with the TNG one I've just done, particularly season five!

S1 : "Emissary" - What a start! (I think I'm going to rewatch it after I've had my tea - the meal, not the drink)

S2 : "Whispers" - Poor Faux'Brien

(HM : "The Homecoming", "The Circle", and "The Seige" season opening trilogy)

S3 : "Destiny" - I love a good prophecy, and it was so nice to see some non-military Cardassians.

S4 : "Our Man Bashir" - Ah, Bashir and Garak on a date
