Your Fanfic's Theme Song

Gibraltar

I couldn't remember if I'd posted this question here before, though I know I had over at the UT forums. So, if your fanfic series had a theme song, what would it be? A contemporary song, an instrumental soundtrack? What piece of music best typifies the emotional core of your series and characters?

Ohhh yes, Sigils and Unions definitely has theme music. Though this is way too long to work if I had to put it with a TV series or a movie--this is the main theme for the entire series. I wanted it to convey the idea of something different from a "normal" Trek series, something more alien. (Juno Reactor--Immaculate Crucifixion)

Specifically The Thirteenth Order: This is the main theme for that one...sorry about the stupid video, but this'll let you hear the song. This is also the song I wrote the mess hall scene with in mind: imagine Spirodopoulos' toast towards the end. (Thrice--Firebreather / Lyrics)

For the Catacombs of Oralius universe within Sigils and Unions--this song sums up the entire universe, and may end up being the inspiration for a particular story somewhere down the line... (Skillet--Collide)

This is what I wrote my Christmas challenge while listening to (O Come, O Come, Emmanuel)

As for "Sacrifice"...here's the music I think fits that moment when peace finally comes to Dukat. Imagine finally beholding the face of God: (Thrice--Atlantic)

I had to double-take on the poster's name. I thought it was one of Robert's.;)

For Seleya, I'd pick Edgar Winter's Frankenstein.

The Arc of the Wolf doesn't have a theme song, exactly, because it has a crapload of songs that are part of it's 'soundtrack'. ::chuckles:: Some of 'em even quoted at chapter headings. Mostly rock, sometimes hard rock, depending. A few other miscellaneous songs, too. Nickelback, U2, a little Pink Floyd, a little Lifehouse. But mostly, so far, Nickelback and U2.

This would be Gibraltar's theme song. As with Nerys Ghemor's, don't watch the actual video... it was the only decent audio-track I could find of the song. Yeah, it's a little odd, and kind of off balance, but so's the crew of that particular ship. ;)

Blue October's She's My Ride Home: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRW1a1rJTd0

Definitely kinda disturbing--I can see why you picked this!

(BTW...I finally got my post edited to have everything it was supposed to have in it.)

:D

Lots of good stuff. You've got some eclectic tastes in music!

No contest.

The original Star Trek theme, arranged by Bruce Broughton (Dallas, JAG) or John Debney (seaQuest).

Thanks! :)

That YouTube video of "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" actually affected how I wrote "Captives' Ransom"...I initially intended to have the song played on piano, but when I heard the video, and the feel of it--I had to change it to guitar.

This is a fun exercise. I've never really thought about this before.

I think a good choice for Supermax would be Prospero's Speech by Loreena McKennitt.

If it was an actual TV series, the theme song would probably end around 1:15, with the first "...which was to please."

The first 0:35 (up to "I must be here confined by you") would consist of tracking shots of the surface of Sundancer and of the prison's empty halls, at night.

The remaining 0:40 would consist of equally moody shots of the cast members, with random scenes of prison life.

A full-length music video would be included as an extra on the Season 1 DVD set. :)

TLR--That song VERY much fits the mentality of the Bluefin. Very touching. :)

Rangifer--I LOVE LOVE LOVE "Prospero's Speech." Very moody song all right.

Mars Bringer of War for Special Ops. with different titles dependednt on the starring cast.

Killer Queen by Queen for Sniper.

something brooding and ominious for The Romulan War.

the MU theme from IaMD for TMU

I'm doing this from work, so I can't provide the links to the videos, but the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack used for the Lord of the Rings special CD (available on Youtube, not the version that sounds like a dirge) or the long instrumental section of Nightwish's Stargazers, I think would be perfect for the dark atmosphere of my Dauntless series.

For me, it's be the following:

Star Trek: Entomalians: Adiemus (by Adiemus)

Shades of Gray: Aquatic Dance (by Vangelis)

OASIS: Con te partiro (by Andrea Bocelli)

Battlestar Urantia:

- Season One: Aileen Dunn (by Siobhan McCarthy)
- Season Two: Wander My Friends (by Bear McCreary)
- Season Three: Dona Nobis Pacem Part I (by Adiemus)
- Season Four: Missionary Hymn (by Enoch Train)

Those are mine. :)

Now that I think about it... here's one.

Lost Highway, by Bon Jovi

Oh patron saint of lonely souls,
Tell this boy which way to go,
Guide the car, you've got the keys,
Farewell to mediocrity;
Kicking off the cruise control,
And turning up the radio,
Got just enough religion,
And a half a tank of gas,
Come on,
Let's go.

"Underwater March" from "Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End" for my newest fic about Captain Morgan Bateson, called "Star Trek: Mandela".
